PSP - PC Wireless Modem Problem

Didn't know where to post this question >_<

Apparently, my mate Shmee doesn't have privileges to post new threads - what's that all about? Do you have to post a certain amount of times before you can start a thread yourself?

Also he wants to know if anybody can help him with this:

"I recently switched Modems for my PC and, since changing, I can no longer
    connect wirelessly with my PSP.

Previously, I had a BT Voyager 105 USB ADSL Modem with AOL as my ISP. I
also had the PSP WifiMax Dongle. After initial problems, I was advised that
the AOL software conflicts with the PSP. The simple solution to this was to
create a new network connection via the Network Connections option, using my
AOL sign-on and password. This created a network connection without opening
the AOL software - and thus allowed my PSP to connect to the Wifi Dongle.

I now have a Thomson Speedtouch 576 v6 wireless router. After installing,
my AOL Broadband works fine, but the manual connection that I set up
    previously no longer connects.

When creating a new connection in Network Settings on the PSP, all appears
to be fine. The connection test works and the new router is picked up.
However, when trying to connect to the internet browser i get the following
message "Communication with the server failed. A DNS error has occured
    (8041040F)"

On games like SOCOM US Navy Seals, the PSP connects to the Infrastructure
Mode but cannot find any servers to connect to. The wireless connection
    then times out.

I think it must be something to do with the AOL software again, but I'm not
sure. Any help with this particular router would be appreciated".

    Ta fellas!!!

I recently joined up here and you have to wait for an e-mail to approve the sign up then you can post however I think you have to have a certain amout of post or time which ever goes quicker to trade. Not sure how many post or how long a time you wait

He's on the members list as joinging on 24-02-2006 so that should have been enough time right? He has 0 posts though so maybe he needs to chat some **** in Off Topic before he can start a New Thread?

Any Mods about?? Wheres the Mod Signal when you need it?? To the ModMobile!! Erm

Looks like it's letting me post replies on this thread , so hopefully I'll be able to open up some new threads soon! Cheers Swift for opening this topic up for me.

Anyways - if anyone can help with my Modem/PSP networking problem it would be great. I see that there are 'nuff topics about, but I didn't have much luck finding what I needed.

My PC skills are pretty poor to say the least, so bear in mind it could be the most basic solution . Any ideas appreciated!

        Cheers!

erm. You are a standard user. Is the "new thread" button just not there? or what? PM me if you want.

I logged in this morning, and clicked on the 'new thread' icon but a message came up saying that I didn't have the required priviledges.

I also noticed that, when reading other peoples threads, that the rules at the bottom were:

"You may not post new threads
You may not post replies etc"

...but soon as Swift told me that he had posted the thread, and I posted a response, all the rules had changed to "You may post..." etc.

I'm pretty new to these boards, so it's probably a 'noob' thing.

Have you tried using different browsers Shmee? Opera, IE, Firefox etc.

With regards to the modem problem; is the NAT on the router open?

I don't seem to have problems posting now - thanks for the help guys.

Bleeders - this is probably a real noob type question, but what is NAT and how do I find out if it's open?
