Also, anyone tried changing the case fan? Does any old quiet PC case fan just plug straight in?

It seems so from this, but best to confirm before I buy one.

Was thinking of a 70mm one of these

Theres no reason to bother with changing the fan!

XBMC has fan speed control settings in - which can be set depending on the temperature inside, or just at whatever speed you fancy!

Also, if you solder one of the wires (cant remember which one) to the metal plating inside the case, it sounds like an airplane trying to take off!

But to answer anyway - its just a 3 pin molex connector wotsit, like the kind you'd get to connect a CPU fan on your motherboard.

I think the Xbox default fan speed is 20% (1500 of 7500rpm). Not sure you'd want to set it any lower than that though. Whilst you can let the Xbox set the speed 'on the fly' based on various temperature readings I'm not sure how accurate they really are.

At 100% it sounds like your Xbox is ready for take off
