I think I'll just wait until next year and see what the 360 looks like at 1080p and what the Wii looks like scaled to 1080p.

Why is 16:10 so popular with PC displays? You'd think more of them would be pushing 16:9 these days.
im not sure, but ive heard lots of horror stories about 16:10 thus i've decided to hold off and get a 1080p TV.

Most likely it'll be the Sony Bravia KDL40X2000 but its incredibly expensive...

Probably worth waiting for the new Sharp XD1 series - they look to be a lot better than the BRAVIAs on paper.

1080p, 1:1 over HDMI (so you can use 'em as a monitor) 2000:1 contrast (10,000:1 dynamic, and the BRAVIAs are 1300:1) 6ms response time (4ms with action mode enabled, BRAVIAs are 8ms) etc.

It doesn't have component jacks on the set itself, but it comes with an adapter so you can plug component devices into the VGA socket. A non-issue in my opinion, but I suppose it might bother some people.

that sounds fine, although I suspect the 360 will output 1080p via Component - so will it except 1080p via its VGA socket?

Wont it accept that too? - although you would have to change the connection each time...?
