Yeah, AOL Silver is a 1Mbps (megabits per second) service so you'd probably be looking at top download speeds of about 125Kbps (kilobytes per second) when downloading from a fast UK server.

My Blueyonder broadband is 10Mpbs (megabits) and I can get download speeds of about 1100Kbps (kilobytes) from a fast UK server. So AOL must be quoting you kilobits per second figures with those download speeds.
Im getting 450+ from news groups

My local exchange has bee upgraded, but I don't have a BT phone line! I'm just gonna have to hope Blueyonder top up their maximum speed. Not that 10Mbps is bad, but as soon as you see something faster...

lol exactly , a friend in Saitama is on 100MB fibre (FTTP). I imagine after getting used to that my 8Mb DSL line would be murder.

AOL have finished tinkering with my line and this is my latest result

only took 33 minutes to download my name is earl today

but at the same time i was downloading the office and that only took 46 minutes, not super fast but much better than before

Basically the best i could hope for was 53kbps and today the best i got was 125kbps

BSG tomorrow is going to be watched quickly

Im supposed to be on 16 meg.We moved into the new place in July and were connected to Bulldog in August.

Using that sppedtest Im only getting about 2 meg

Bulldog say that I may have to wait a while as it can take some time for the full speed to be apparent but Im feeling that is a load of bull.

What do i do to tell them I should be getting much better speeds?

nah your right on track with those speed results. You'll have a 16Mbit line which should give you a download speed of around 2Mbytes. I don't know if there is a reason why they do the speeds in Mbits rather than Mbytes other than to make it appear faster.

                      Cheers for that

What I cant work out though is that when I use uTorrent i can only get a top speed of about 230 kb/s.Is that right?Shouldnt I be able to get more?
