PS2 version has problems with anti-aliasing. DC doesn't. For me that makes a much nicer looking game and I'd prefer a fairly rock-solid 30FPS than a badly anti-aliased 60FPS with more slowdown.

Played both and I sold my PS2 version! Keeping it real on the DC man!

the sound is awful on the DC tho. awful, muffled, lower quality all round. cant get away with it and i did spend a weekend trying to like it. PS2 all the way.

I'm fairly certain the audio is the same quality for both versions, they use the CRI ADX compression libs.

Mixing quality between the two is possibly an issue, but for me its the ps2 version that sounds slightly muddy.

There really is little in it.

ps2 version has sounds that dont even appear in the dc one, layer transitions sound weird and slow down loads on the dc, plus there arent anywhere near as many 'stars' and stuff on dc layer transitions.

I haven't noticed different sounds or more stars. What/where are the extra sounds? I'll have to go and have another look

There is one boss level (2 or 3?) where the transition sometimes happens too quickly for the DC to keep up and the beat stutters for < 1/2 second, but thats the only time I spotted it. Maybe you have a dirty disk/dodgy DC?

i found the music just had more sounds on the PS2..hard to be specific now since it was a year since i had them both. levels 1 and 2 particularly seemed to sound different for me, with many odd squeaky little sounds to be heard on the PS2 and nowhere on the DC.

the disc was perfect aswell, was a GAME product load from when i worked for those bastards.

just watch the layer changes on the ps2 theyre full of stars, dots, lines etc etc and look awesome...the dc one seems to just have a lot less 'lines', detail etc, looks generally worse, slowing down on every layer change.

strange that people (including me) damn PAL halo for its nasty 25fps compared to NTSC 30fps...yet theyl forgive Rez for its 30fps cross format difference.

Yeah, DC definitely has more slowdown on the layer transitions. It's practically slideshow at some points. PS2 all the way for me too. I've got both versions, but I much prefer the PS2 because of the framerate. Ok, so it dips in a couple of places, but most of the game is silky smooth.

I've honestly not experienced it being that bad at all.

I'm going to have another look, but I was only playing Rez a couple of weeks ago

i have both ps2 and dc and haven't noticed any differences in them.

the ps2 version will probably be better.
you can get it for 20 quid somewhere i've forgotten though.

Sorry Vaipon, I'm with Papercut on this one. I've never known it to be this bad! Are you running it on an emulator or an actual Dreamcast? lol
                        'Slideshow'. Really?

Does it really matter what fps the game is running at? Honestly?
I don't damn them..... maybe I'm the exception.

when i was a kid i was obsessed by having the best version frame rate wise..now im not so anal but i find NTSC Halo much more playable than the PAL game.

No, I have also noticed serious slow-down in teh DC game but... without wanting to really join the debate, it doesn't really matter 'cos...

                            Rez == t3h r0ck0rs!

... so just go buy the game already and get on with some playing

I have both versions and i'd go for the DC version, because

                              1. VISUALS, with the VGA box (8pounds from playasia) i have a perfect image, copmared to the blurry ps2 RGB low res image.
                              Warning:
IF YOU HAVE A VGA MONITOR AND STILL USE YOUR TV TO PLAY DREAMCAST YOURE MISSING THE WHOLE POINT...
                              2. Slowdown doesn't affect gameplay that much, as ps2's (especially in the fifth level slowdown on ps2 is horrible)
                              3. Nicer box, presentation, an original sega product published by sega and NOT scee.

                              PS2 advantages:
Optical Out stereo output, meaning PCM 44.1 khz Clear Stereo sound (No cheap RCA connectors)
Faster respnse form Dual Shock 2 gamepad, meaning better scores.
