I was just about to update this with the Wii VC credit card work-around but see that Lyris has already beaten me to it.

      Excellent work, keep it up

Yeah, I decided to tend to the FAQ instead of writing an essay about archival standards

another positive about using your old GC stepdown convertor.

          Not tried the internet yet.

bought all my controllers from Toys R Us and Nintendo themselves in NYC too, $20 ea.

bet we get shafted when they come out in the uk

$20 for a Wii remote? I thought they were more along the lines of $40!

I'd like to add for neat freaks like me who think the Wavebird dongle looks horrible when the Wii is stood vertically for ?2.74 all in your problems are solved:

              http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=190056479459

This guy delivered a extension cable to me in 2 days (logic 3 branded) and it works a treat with the wavebird dongle now thrown behind the back of the TV in favour of a discreet cable! hehe

Don't know if anyone's posted it- but they try out a Freeloader on a US wii on this 1up feature. They load a japanese copy of soul calibur. So it would appear that it does work.

I KNEW there was a reason for me buying that 2.99 GameCube extension cord from Play back in 2002!!!

I've tried out my copy of Freeloader on my US Wii just to check things. I've been able to load all the Japanese and PAL games I put in the slot, even those tetchy ones like Donkey Konga. Only consideration I will mention is that the Freeloader disc needs to be in the slot when you turn the machine on; doesn't seem to want to load if you insert it with the power on.

That's great - are there any memory card issues whilst playing Jpn GC games on a US Wii though?

                        READ THE MANUAL!!

this is of great interest to me as i'm running a projector with all the consoles sat underneath it on a bookshelf type arrangement. obviously the bar needs to be by the screen...

anyway i dug this out earlier, it seem you don't actually NEED the bar....

You can buy IR sources at your local Radio Shack and create your own makeshift sensor bar. Or, you can alternatively set two candles on your mantle, light them, and have fun. No, really. The flames on the candles output a similar IR imprint that the Wii remote can read. We know because we recently tested whether or not using lit candles as a replacement for the sensor bar was a viable alternative and after extensive play, we can state that they perform very well. In fact, in our tests two lit candles - spaced about a foot apart - offer nearly the same accuracy and range as the sensor bar itself. Larger IR sources, such as bigger flashlights, will get your even more accuracy and range.

I can't try that because my Gamecube is US/JPN switched, so I had one card for US games and one card for Japanese games. I could try it with the memory card I use for Freeloading the PAL games, but might not get a chance tonight or tomorrow to try that.

My GC is switched also - what I meant to ask was are there any issues plugging a memory card with Jpn GC saves on it into a US Wii? I'm assuming there's no probs, but just wanted to check
