I ended up buying the stepdown linked in the FAQ.

      http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SC5328.html

It arrived today and works fine but I'd much prefer a small normal sized power cable as I badly need the space.

Why didn't you called nintendo,to get a pal PSU?
The price is amost the same as the stepdown from tlc.
Although you can use it for other import consoles/hardware...

Let me get this straight... an RGB scart lead is no good on a Wii? Scarts are Europe only, correct?

How the hell do I connect it up to my TV then? I don't have component.

Either S-Video or Composite (yech) or buy an expensive-ish Component to RGB SCART transcoding box (www.keene.co.uk)

Crap. I was sure that RGB would work in a US Wii. And S-video is inferior to that, correct?

I don't have S-video but I could buy a converter - that's not too dear at all. In a few years I'm sure I'll have component but in the meantime...

You sure about this RGB malarchy?

              Comment

U.S. wii definitely doesn't support RGB, mate.

I'm in the same situation as you... although I'm wondering whether I should buy a component to VGA converter, as I'd like to hook up the wii to my Acer 1916WS monitor.

Can anyone offer any suggestions? Will that give me a good picture, or will I be better off buying a component to RGB converter and hooking it up to my 14" SD tv?

Anyone got any news on a PAL wii power supply working on a USA machine?

I can confirm that my USA Wii does work on a PAL power supply.

So is there any other way of updating my Wii if I don't connect it to the net? I have a bog-standard wired router and no intention of buying a wireless one yet. However, if I do which should I buy? Currently have a Netgear one.

I don't believe so. Update disks were issued with some of the US Wiis at launch, so it is possible to update the console this way, but I don't believe Nintendo have issued any later update disks.

You could buy the USB wired-ethernet adaptor for your Wii - if you're not so technical this is less complicated to set up than securing your wireless network (it's literally plug-&-play).

See Smouty's excellent-value suggestion for ADLS modem-routers in the DS Lite thread, or send me your email addy & I have an invite for a friend to get a Fon access-point (which plugs into your existing router) for ?10 (but probably plus p&p).

You should probably get online sooninsh to take advantage of the free download of the opera browser. It's probably worth having even if you have no immediate plans to use it. Can you find a friend who has wireless and use your Wii there, just for the download?

                          Stroller.

Some of the newer games (such as Super Paper Mario) have had updates on the game disc if need be to install.

Can I ask my fellow importers how much shipping they paid on their consoles?

Bought mine yesterday and have been equally impressed and disappointed with it!

Got a couple of questions which I've not been able to find answers too yet:
                                1) Has anybody been able to mod it so the Wavebird dongle is inside the case?
                                2) Is it possible to use external storage via USB? I have an old iPod HD which I'd like to connect to it. (been answered).
                                3) When aiming the remote, the cursor isn't in the same place that I'm aiming. Is that normal? Is it correctable?
                                4) Has anybody tried the Freeloader on a PAL Wii? If so, how successful was it? (been answered).
                                5) What are the advantages of connecting my Wii to my PC? Can I transfer saves etc?
                                6) I don't seem to be able to transfer Cube saves to the Wii, is it impossible or am I just missing something? (been answered).

                                Any help would be appreciated.

I've started adding people as friends now but it's taking ages so feel free to add me and PM me.
