    some import PS3 questions please!

    hey guys!!

ok i have got an import PS1/PSP/xbox/360/DS and DS lite
and i was thinking about getting a PS3 imported, couple of quick questions though!-

power supply is no problem as its 110-220v right (with the kettle lead/plug) could i just use a plug adaptor please to change it from 2 pin to UK 3 pin?

menus- if i get the HK or JAP PS3, is it difficult to change menu language please?

signing up for online play/account etc any problems with it being either a US or JAP version?

any other things/problems i have missed out please fill me in

thanks for any info cos i may not be able to wait till (hopefully a) march launch!

    cheers

Kettle plug OK? Yep, as is a plug adapter.

        Menus difficult to change? No.

Online accounts difficult? No. Just bluff your way through.

Other? Downloading free stuff from the US, JPN, HK store is easy. Some credit/debit cards are not accepted on the US and HK store. AFAIK you can't buy from the JPN store without a JPN address matching your card. It's heavy and is a magnet for dust and prints and you'll appreciate it's low noise compared to your 360.

        That's it. Now go buy.

Not all games do that, only ones that are programmed to.

This is why I bought a US machine tbh, as I'd rather not be pulling my hair out about it later when X game runs in Japanese.

sorry jake i just replied to your post in the FAQ!
so let me get this straight, if i put in a US copy of resistance in a JAP PS3 it will play in japanese right??
what about a hong kong asia system please?

I believe HK systems are actually identical to JPN ones.

Running Resistance on a JPN system actually causes it to be censored.
The JPN and US discs are identical, the game detects the region of the console and adjusts accordingly.
The PS3 has no region protection mainly so developers can do these single production runs like this and simply have the adjust to suit the region.
I've not tried Resistance myself mind, I don't know if it changes the text.

Sonic is said to adjust language, and given the US and JPN release date of VF5 is so close, we can reasonably assume that will too.

some one posted on another forum re this situation -

'the PS3 changes games languages according to the language the PS3 is setup in. So that person must have had their PS3 setup in JP in order for the US game to play in JP'

                    hmmm!

ok and on another forum, one user has a US copy of resistance and a JP PS3 and says its all in english apart from the EULA licence!
so anyone else add to this please?
and if a game adjusts the language, no way of changing it back??

ok sorry for all these posts, but another poster has told me they have JAP PS3 and JAP resistance and motorstorm and both games in english, menus and spoken, they told me it changes to what language you have your PS3 set to in the settings!!

I have JPN Resistance and a JPN machine. My machine is set to English so they game defaults to english text and voice. I got around the censorship issue by downloading a savefile created on a US machine.

It'll run in english without it, but if you want blood and the hero moments you'll need the savefile.

                              Savefile: http://rapidshare.com/files/6045181/...OFILE.ZIP.html
