So after me flashing it the other night numerous times,if i boot with the switch to bank 1,it takes a few goes for the power to stay on,up to full power,if that make sense.

Bank 2 boots up straight away, yet with either i get a red ring and no screen.

Is it borked,or just being silly?

Managed to get the correct screen up,although it was green, like watching a dvd on a PS2,and i flashed away.

All seemed to be going well, xbox turned off. Now whatever way i turn on,i get the call customer services screen.

And all of this just because of having a chip installed??
Jeezes... never had this trouble, but then again, I always had a good bios, not cromwell. I recommend buying Duo X2, because it has a 1.0-1.5 bios on bank A and a 1.6 bios on bank B.

This chip has two bios banks, you just need one, the other one can be used as a safe backup.
They even provide an LPC rebuild cirquit for 1.6 versions.
Fairly cheap, definitely if bought by 10, then it's ? 10 a pop
Has a wiring for on/off on the chip.
NO cromwell, has the evox bios on it.

If you have a version 1.0-1.5 xbox, you should flash only to the bank for 1.0-1.5's, and if you own a 1.6, only flash to the 1.6 bank (and have the appropriate bank enabled for your xbox - it may/may not run if the wrong bank is selected, and is unstable at best). Xecuters, Duo's etc generally have two banks (switch on the chip) only one of which needs flashing.
Shinebi - all xbox chips come with Cromwell on them, and are either Flashed by the people flogging them (illegally, cor I miss The Chip Shop), or the people installing them at home.

Well, you can buy em like that online, yes.
And you can flash any bank with any bios, just has to be the correct size, as you now. Even now most chips support any size of bios...
I just think it's a shame he got a cromwell on it not knowing what to do afterwards. That's service... but I guess, anybody can make a mistake...
Not pointing a finger there mate

True - when you get a chip for the first time, and sit round scratching your head for an hour not knowing what the hell to do with it......then you get drunk, solder it in, and then still have to face flashing and OS installation.....then you've gotta get your utilities sorted etc etc etc
Then again, takes 0.1% of the time of installing a PS2 chip.....

LOL ok was thinking this was going the wrong direction.

Ahh, I wish I lived in the UK for two thing: arcades and chipping xboxes.
There seem to be a lot of people in the UK (or is it just this forum) that tend to have serious difficulties straighting out an xbox mod.

I guess you guys'll sort it out.

                    Cheers

                    ps if interested, I stil have some 5 Duo's, 1 Saturn modchip, 1 PS1 mod and 1 Viper (Try a Q mod for a change, that's also a challenge!)

@Nick - you'll still be ok with the red lights, you're box prob isn't fried (someone brought a box round before were the chip been shorted and black smokes poured from the thing, simply pulled the chip, installed another and they're away), stick with it - if you look at the chip manufacturers website, they usually have tuts (what chip is in it btw?) or over at xbox-scene forums...just be careful when you post with the flameing that'll occur!
@Shinebi - the Q mod, know what you mean, been of recent 'creating' StarFox 2 snes carts, fiddly little buggers with the added bonus of eprom burning...

You've got nothing on the HD - it's new and unformatted. You should now be able to boot an install disk if it flashed OK and it will sort it out
