I've got all the systems wired up with those funky Argos RGB 3 way boxes, so each one is at the flick of a button.
How good are these RGB boxes? I've always been suspicious about these boxes dropping the quality of the picture. As you have a rather large TV do you notice much loss in quality?

How much did you pay for them by the way?

    Oh yeah.......nice setup!

The Argos boxes have been discussed here loads. They are by far the best way of hooking up lots systems.
The quality of the picture is AAA+

      http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=1001&productId=60608&Trail=C$catgroup_ id_parent=8280>C$catgroup_id_parent=8281>C$c atgroup_id_parent=8283&categoryId=8283

I have 3 Boxes plugged into another 1 then into the TV. Even with the signal going through 2 boxes, I still can't see any difference in quality.
I've tried loads of boxes and all have been rubbish apart for the Argos one.

I can't recommend this box enough, but you'll need a scart to scart lead (get a good one) to connect it to your TV.

It will display full RGB & S-vhs, as well as having extra phonos to send audio etc to your Amp or whatever.

      Go get one NOW!!!!!!!!!

Cheers spinpug666, that's some good advice.

Is there any scart leads I should/shouldn't use for my consoles and where to get them? At the moment I have them all connected through my amp via S-video leads but I would prefer to switch them through scarts. I have a US N64 & Cube and a PAL DC & Xbox.

I did search through the forum but couldn't find exactly this information. Sorry if this is not the time and place for this discussion.

You'll get a better picture thru RGB scart leads into the Scart on your TV. Make sure you plug'em into the scart that supports RGB usually AV1 if you have 2 or more scart sockets on your TV.

If you want to use your S-vhs leads you will have to use your AV2 or AV3 sockets which usually support S-vhs. But you'll get no improvment in picture quality.
So you'll need a s-vhs adapter (?6) if you want to plug it into the argos box. You will have to go into the menu on your TV to select the input on each AV, if you dont get a picture via s-vhs through the argos box.

If you're un-clear of what I am talking about just let me know via PM or something as I tend to ramble on abit, even confuse myself sometimes.

USA N64 - doesn't display RGB without an internal mod.

USA - GameCube will need an RGB scart lead custom made (contact Saurian, he made mine)

DC - you should be able to get an RGB lead cheap off ebay. Looks lovely in RGB too!

Xbox - get the official advanced scart lead, it will have an optical out on it as well to hook-up to your Amp. The 3rd party RGB leads all seem to be abit rubbish, so steer clear!

The Argos box also has extra phonos so you can hook up all 3 scarts to your Amp with 1 set of phono leads.

spinpug666, thats very nice your setup . what tv is that one of them rear projection ones ?

            Comment

It's a Tosh 43'' rear projection, no idea of the model number. When I first saw it I couldn't believe how sharp the picture was.
I've had it a few years now.

                Very nice setup Marcus

Shamed by the tidiness of all these collections I decided to do something about the tangle of wires and consoles and controllers surrounding my TV.

So although the connected consoles haven't changed here's my updated setup:

Ish, where did you get that stand/unit from?

Ish very nice and neat, I love a setup where you can see hardly any ugly wires. Nice one

Brilliant pictures Marcus. I thought you had a white GC and white PS2...but then I noticed it was the flash

                      3 PS2s though?

The stand came from Argos. Its alright - a bugger to put together though, but then I am crap at that sort of thing. It was a struggle to find something that had enough slots for consoles and stuff but didn't cost the earth.

Thanks for the no wires praise, that was my main aim with sorting out my setup - but if you check the picture of my old setup I posted on (I think) page 2 you'll be horrified by the tangle. It took me a day to untangle everything and reconnect it. It must have been a serious fire hazard

                          It looks great Ish.

I also got my stand from Argos, and it was a bitch to set up. I thought it would have been big enough for everything but it's not (I've got 2 consoles on another shelf next to my TV now )

I should have just paid the extra money and got the same stand as you
