It's always nice to see a new setup.

I'll do my best, we're living in such a madhouse whilst it's in progress I'm slightly concerned that I might never find things again! Might have to be phonepix!

It does feel like that. I only turfed out that one room when it got a makeover and it was bedlam.

I'm currently about to attempt to give a major overhaul to two other upstairs rooms at the same time. It probably won't end well.

It's done now...I literally couldn't be happier. Bar a few tweeks (one cupboard door needs dropping slightly) it's taken 3 days of f*cking hard graft after I finish work, I woke up this morning feeling like I hadn't actually slept, my legs felt gone before I even got to work, but it was totally worth it.

It's everything we always wanted, but having young kids prevented. Now they are older we've got our wood floor, our clean looking room, the mahoosive unit.

          Pics when I can!

            So, pics as promised!

Still not quite finished yet, the wires are going to be hidden by some trunking, which will match the new skirting when that's been painted white. As you can tell, we've not finished putting all our stuff back into the room, hence the box and the stuff all over the sofa.

The wall behind the bigger of the two sofa's is going ot be a picture wall. Furthermore, the speaker cable for rear speakers wasn't long enough, so I still need to remount one of those and recable them, but for the week I'm done, it's been some hard graft. The floor was originally a cream carpet and the skirting was just blank wood.

To give some sense of how large that unit it (its f*cking big), the LCD is a 32" Samsung. We're debating whether or not to install some lighting where some of the shelves are...as of this moment we're still debating it!

It's our dream lounge and everytime I come down the stairs to it, it blows me away. Once again thanks to Spatial for posting his pic which helped us find the unit we fell in love with.

Love the unit, don't like the wood finish but that's just down to individual taste (I don't like your wallpaper either lol!). Definitely got plenty of room in there to keep all your stuff nicely out of the way. I also love your flooring; is it real wood or laminate? It looks real from those photos.

Also, your PS3 doesn't have room to vent on the right hand side and your living room lights need dusting!

I'm liking the tidyness of it all. Makes the room look nice and big/spacious.

                    A full critique!

The PS3 does indeed need moving to the left slightly, and yeah, the lights need dusting like you wouldn't believe, my mum noticed that from the path outside!

The wallpaper was the wife's choice and at first I didn't like it when she brought the rolls home, but once it was on the wall I fell in love with it, but obviously it's a personal taste issue, same with the wood type for the unit. The finish on the wood is actually really shiny and looks amazing, but the photo's on my aging camera haven't picked that up!

The wood floor is indeed real wood, something we've always wanted!

Malc, it is actually a really big lounge, don't think the pics do it justice, but when it was empty and the floor was concrete in preparation for the wood, it was huge!

Reflecting on those photo's, I've just realised I've Jacko'd my youngest, you can't see his face. He will remain anonymous.

Ahhh, the photo! His name is "Mandu". Was named as a kitten when we got him, named by a young child...Cat..."Mandu"...but it kinda suited him, so we kept it.

I have custom made media cabinet and it is wonderful but they made the gap between shelves a little too big and as it got 4 rows and a drawer. It is too tall. 43 inch high and a 50 inch plasma TV on top. It put a bit of strain on my neck when I play games or watch TV.

What can I do. Should I put it on the corner and use my chest of drawers from Ikea for TV. (Don't know if it strong enough to hold 35kg TV)

Problem is the plan are rough sketch and I have no idea on final size I thought it will be almost a feet lower in height. My nose is level to top of media cabinet on height when sitting on the bed.

                            heres my little set up

panny 720p 42" , cant justify a new one as this one would be worth nothing 2nd hand, so when it goes bang i'll get a 50"

also have a 17" touch screen to help control "album player" which is like a htpc jukebox

                            ps3 and xbox 360

album player, touch the screen and the cd cover opens and u just add songs o your playlist, great bit of kit and very wife friendly

and finaly on the htpc use media portal to watch tv series and films
