Nijo, whats the Yamaha sound Projector like? I'm debating whether to get one but have heard mixed reactions!

It works pretty well in my room, which isn't perfect (5m x 4m with the TV on the side of one of the long walls). I can hear sound on the sides, but not behind - presumably a more cinematic room would achieve that. The sub seems to pair it well and makes a big difference.
For the same price you can get a better sounding 5.1 system of course. I'm very happy with it, but I value the tidy arrangement higher than many.

as nijo says, it's a bit of a compromise solution which works pretty well but you'll get a much nicer sounding setup using speakers, it's just whether the wife will allow it

lab 5s all round mate, including centre (got a customer with a lab 5 surround sound setup!!!! 7.4 centre, insane).

I've currently got full surround sound but all the wires are bothering me now as well as having a huge amp underneath the TV (must be getting old!) I'd love to think that i'm saving up for a Beovision 7 crisp but realistically i don't think it'll ever happen! If i did get one though i suppose i could just bring 2 pairs of speakers homw from work every night!

hey all, I've read about 90% of this forum, and some of these setups, i have to admit, are absolutely mind blowing. They've also motivated me to update some various items throughout my room, starting with a really nice subwoofer, so I'm just wondering if anyone could list some good models ranging from about $500-1000 in canadian funds, which works out to about 250-500 pounds.
