Surprise surprise, it's another TV!



I'm pretty sure this one will be staying though - I've got a write-up in our big TV topic here, but basically, it's far better than any of the LCDs I've had, and while not perfect, for only £845, I can live with a couple of minor issues - most of which seem to be getting less and less apparent the more I use it.


I really cannot believe how good the image quality is, or how good value it is. I've spent almost 3x this much on LCDs that pale in comparison.

Gradually getting my house in order. Still no paint in the lounge, although the wallpaper is off now (phew). Been finishing off the sound portion in readiness, with a couple of purchases.

Bought a Marantz PM440 dual channel amp (bottom of pic 1) which is fed by a line-out from my current Marantz Surround amp (top of pic 1) into which all the inputs go, e.g. game sound and squeezebox for music.

The dual channel amp is powering some new JBL Control ONEs in the dinning room (see pic 2) and my old Bang and Olufsens in the kitchen (pics 3 and 4).

Wiring is all nicely hidden away in the walls and ceiling cavity (see my previous posts).

Next to come will be a new screen. I'm thinking along the lines of a Panasonic plasma panel because it will look better with old consoles and doesn't have speakers wasting space (I would never use them) and cost. However, this one doesn't do 1080p, so I think I'll wait till the PS3 comes out. If it does 1080p without the games hitting framerate problems, I'll have to consider a 1080p screen, but that's quite serious money (read FAR TOO MUCH) at the moment.

That is the plasma, yeah. It's a cracking display, but went back due to forcing noise reduction on the analogue inputs with an interlaced signal. (I doubt most people would notice it)
