Has anyone here used TheRage.com ?

They seem to be the only US based importer I can find that takes paypal.

    Anyone used them, good/bad, fast/slow?

    Customs an issue etc.

    Cheers.

Hi, I have used them a couple of times, and they seem to be fairly fast, I have never been wondering where something has got to.

Also, I have never had any import charges, and if you are not in, they will leave it with a neighbour instead of taking it all the way back to their dept which is excellent for me!

I would recommend them, no problems at all.

Yeah, I preordered my GC PSO keyboard/pad from them. From what I can remember they were pretty quick and I didn't get stung with any import tax.

And they left my package with a neighbour too

I have used them allot. Mark everything down and send packages as gift. They don?t bubble wrap things like NCS do instead they have a couple of cardboard pieces round the game.

Except for the cardboard pieces great to deal with.

Do they mark packages down automatically or on request?
(I thought I read on their site they don't do that, but perhaps that was someone else).

I have an order that was shipped out with airmail on January 21st and I still don't have it! (should take 1 to 2 weeks)
So I'm kinda starting to worry...

Though I read something from Lyris in another thread:
TheRage took about 3 weeks to get me a GBA copy of Yoshi's Island, but that's probably just a one-off. Tronix for me have always been very fast and seem to mark the price of the shipping on the customs label rather than the price of the item so they're customs friendly.
Perhaps customs have intercepted it, but I don't think they hold on to a package that long do they?

I've used therage quite a few times, the service is very good.

The only real problem is their p&p which is quite pricey compared to a lot of places.

I've used them a few times and never had any problems. They sent my wavebird a couple of days late but emailed me to say why and gave me $3 off my next order. Plus, as has already been mentioned, they mark things down for you.

Well, at this point I'd just be happy to receive the package!
                It's almost taking a month!

And is the marking down on request or automatically?

I always ask them to mark stuff down. What type of shipping have you gone for - is it trackable?

I used them once a couple of years ago for quite a big order. Replies to my e-mails were pretty quick, I remember. As I went for some carrier shipping option, I had to pay custom taxes (don't recall though whether I asked them to mark it down).

The only gripe I had with The Rage was the way they packaged the 12 or so games I ordered, they were just thrown into a bubblewrap-envelope; needless to say, some cases were cracked.

I've been using TheRage for over 2 years now and I think they're great to deal with. They always mark stuff down and almost everything I've ordered has been shipped within 24 hours. The shipping is a tad pricey I guess but then again I don't like waiting for my import games.

I used to have nothing but praise for therage but my last order from them was shipped on the 9th of Jan and didn't turn up until last week.

From the emails I received from them it would appear the package didn't clear US customs on the first go and this happens to them enough for it not to be a surprise (because they fill in the customs labels as gift with a game's value at $5 sometimes the packages are returned because US customs decide they haven't been filled in properly).

When the package finally did make it over here it got ?15 worth of customs charges from our wonderful post office *cough*.

Now this was using the global priority mail service (which is the cheapest otion) but personally I've taken to using tronix now...who seem to be more reliable but sadly don't take paypal (which the rage do).

Well, I posted the question originally, and In my experience since is that the Rage are very good, though I tend to use www.videogamesplus.ca these days for my US stuff.

This might be happened. I did e-mail them already and got a reply after 2 days. But it's hard to say what happened to the package. Maybe it's delayed for some reason. It's not trackable, as I did the cheapest shipping option like yourself. They would e-mail me if they got the package got returned to them.

It wasn't a big order really. Ordered a US Gameboy Player bootdisc which was $22.95 I think and a Gamebit screw for $5.95.
                              Shipping was $11.

But maybe the Dutch customs have the package and are slow-ass for some reason...

                              I'll e-mail them someday this week if I don't get/know/hear anything else.
