      That's bad form mate...
      No it isnt

Someone charging a small amount for a repair that he spent AGES working out is perfectly fair. There are people charging extortionate amounts for even simple machine mods.

In fact screw you lot - I aint doing anything for you anyway.

Gotta say I agree with Saur... he spent the graft figuring it out, why shouldn't he incorporate this new info into his range of fixes he can offer? If other people want to do it (and probably ask far more for it), let them figure it out also
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

          I agree

Besides, Saur is solid when it comes to mods and ****.

So if you want to work it out yourself feel free. Otherwise cough up the cash.

As for me, I'll let bods with the know how fix me stuff, and I'll stick to what I'm good at.

When I figure out what that is I'll let you know...

Would Coca Cola tell you the recipe for Coke? I think not...

Saur put in the hours to offer a service. I think it's fair for him to keep the info to himself.

            Well that's my 2 penneth

Also that Connect geezer is under the impression I made him an RGB cable as well as the fact that I have been supposedly wrecking machines.

This is untrue as I havent constructed any cables in absolutely ages and dont plan to do any more anyway cos I'm sick of the bull**** I have to put up with from people.

You have absolutely no idea how much care I take in all my work.

Let me clear this up. I do not mean to imply anything bad regarding the work and quality products Saurian develops. We all know that it is of the highest quality.

Your original post was just this...

I've worked out how to repair this fault now ^^ Gonna try the same thing with a Q tomorrow.
I have been having issues with the sound and my Panasonic Q. I thought that I might have a cable that needs some modifying done to it. So I asked if you were going to offer a fix. If you had said yes I would have asked how much it would be. That's all, nothing more nothing less. You said you had found a way, in your words "repair this fault" I was only trying to find out some more information and try to fix the problem I have.

                        No offence intended.

Ha, nice reaction... Well, I think sharing information is fair. You still have the kudos of working it out. If people were like that about the RGB mod etc you wouldn't have had any business at all.

Yah yah, it's all well and good to come up with examples like that but it doesn't always apply when it comes to electronics. If coders kept info to themselves then there's be less of a homebrew coding scene.

If those who were into electronics were so inclined they could have kept ALL those console mods to themselves.

It's not like people would expect him to do it for free if he told others how.

Note, I don't actually care how... I've modded my own machines and that's enough for me.

My Gamecube developed it's fault due to a dodgy controller. I know this because after my first NTSC machine went tits up I bought another, which worked perfectly until I plugged in my original controller - instant breakage.

Luckily the second one was under guarantee so I returned it with the dodgy controller and got a working machine and a working controller, and it's been behaving ever since.

I don't know whether anyone else can back this experience up, but I'm 99% certain it was that controller which broke 2 of my cubes.

You can't blame a guy for making some money off something he's worked on for a long time.

There were a lot of people working on getting RGB for the import gamecube, so the first person who did it had to make it known they'd cracked the nut. That was 'people' - nobody else has been trying to fix the sound fault other than Saurian - a few tried initially, but pretty soon they gave up and just told the punters to buy replacement machines.

I know groundy gave out instructions for doing the RGB conversion and it spread like wildfire. Groundy got the kudos and a good bit of business. Saurian's a good guy and I'm sure that if he starts getting too much business in Gamecube returns he'll share his knowledge, but until that time I say good on him - he's done the work, let him reap the benefits. He gets the kudos and as much business as he can shake a stick at initally - fair rewards.

Now he's done it and people know it can be done, I daresay others will pick up the challenge again anyway.
