Just ordered me that crisis core psp. I think it has 3.80 on it. So all i need is a pandora battery and memory stick with all the setup files on it right?

Yes, I have such things, although its on lend to someone else at present.

Sorry if this has been answered already but I read through the first half of pages for this thread and then just cut to the end as I figured I'd get a response quicker.

on the PSPMVS 2.0.6 emulator is there any easy way to make the display widescreen (i.e the full PSP screen) when playing roms? I was just playing KOF '98 earlier and it seemed stuck in 4:3 for some reason.

Oh yeah, getting emulators to work was a right bitch but I think having the right versions of roms is important (was half my problem). Wont say where to go though so as to not break any rules on this forum or anything.

^It's probably like that on purpose, because displaying the game in 16:9 would make it all nasty and stretched

ok. Just I've seen vids on Youtube where they've had Neo Geo games at full screen?

Not sure about the version you mention, but other versions either required you to press the shoulder buttons together or select+start at the same time to bring up the options screen.

They versions I used (the early ones) definitely supported widescreen.

I'm using version 2.3.1 and this is how I do it:
                >Home
                >Game Configuration
                >Stretch Screen
                There's options for Off, 360x270 (4:3), 420x270 (14:9) & 480x270 (16:9).

I'm not sure if that's the default way to do it or if I've customised the PSP controls though.

That works for the Capcom emulator I have but not the Neo Geo one. Maybe I need a more up-to-date version of the NEo Geo emulator possibly as I notice that they're both made by the same person.

Ive only just around to modding mine. I bought the Pandora battery from datel as I didnt want to wreck my official one, then after much faffing trying to make the memory card i managed to do it.

Best thing ive done so far is rip my ntsc version of Final Fantasy 7 and stick it on the memory card. I also did Castlevania SOTN as well, all from the original discs. It looks miles better on the PSP screen than the version I bought on XBOXLIVE Arcade. It seems ntsc stuff seems to work better for some reason.

Sounds great. I should look into this myself at some point eh?

Looks like you can CFW the new PSPs finally, using Phantasy Star Portable.

Just to confirm, but is the PSP 2000 still downgradable regardless of what official firmware is on it?

I don't mind having to buy Phantasy Star online if not, but I would much rather use the pandora battery + magic stick approach as I already have those to hand.

I'm pretty sure that there are certain models of the 2000 series that you can't downgrade without this kind of exploit - can't remember the specific motherboard models though. Something... 88 sounds familiar.

Mine's one of the European FF7s if that helps - I think I'm on the latest official firmware though (or at least I was prompted to install one when I loaded up Star Ocean 1)

You can definitely downgrade from the latest OFW on the 2000, I do it on mine frequently. It's just going to depend on the motherboard model - trying to find which ones are problematic at the moment.

                                Here you go: http://alek.dark-alex.org/pspwiki/in...#TA-088_Series

There's a PSPIdent link at the bottom of that page which shows how to identify the versions, which looks like it will run on OFW.
