    Do it...lol!

46W's are going for great prices these days.

S-LCD don't make S-PVA panels in any size lower than 32" (Unless they've changed this behind my back). That's why the 26" Sony/Samsung TVs don't have quite as impressive black levels or viewing angles.

The probelm with the W series is it is ugly compared to the X series, and when you are putting a thing that size in your living room i believe it has to look good, which is why i paid nearly ?1000 more for the X series.

I don't think it looks ugly myself; I think it has a very "timeless" Sony design that reminds me of the stuff they put out in the mid 90s: black and grey, dotted speaker grille etc.

Lol...in yr opinion which is fair enuff. I'm sure and certainly hope there were a few other reasons than how it looks that you spent an extra grand.

Looks like a thing of beauty to me but each to their own...

I agree, not about the X and W series, but that a display should look aesthetically pleasing sat in a living room. It's something I will pay extra for as I consider it of similar importance to image quality.

Well there were other considerations as to why i went for the X series, and its top of the sony range for a reason, it had all the right inputs i need, but i have to say its never worth the ?1000 over the W for what you get apart from how it looks and the missus had some input into that, its not exactly a set you can hide in the corner, so i guess i did pay a fair bit for the style of the thing. .

The X series is obviously allot better than the W series in other ways besides aesthetically. Its a newer model.

No it's not. The X-Series is older. It first appeared in Europe during Summer 2006. The Ws appeared in late Autumn/Winter.

Seeing as Sony Australia have never released the W-Series down under, I'm not sure how you're commenting on which is better?

I really don't recommend the latest Samsung ones unless you know you're not getting one of the 'bad' firmwares. 24fps doesn't work through PS3, and MoviePlus (a stupid 'feature' of Samsung TVs making everything too smooth, the motion is like everything is filmed on a handheld camera) turns itself on everytime you turn the TV on or change source.

Going for the 46X series myself (Bravia) as soon as possible!

You know that the X series doesn't support 24Hz at all, right? (and Samsung have fixed the 24Hz reporting)

The only current BRAVIA to support 1080p24 is the D3000 series, with the W3000 and X3000 coming later this year (probably September time) being the only 1080p native ones to support 24Hz.

The W is a far smarter buy than the X - the only additional features you get with the X are meaningless anyway, and should be turned off.

Samsung haven't fixed 24Hz as it still remains unworking on the PS3 on my screen.

I know the X doesn't display it, but that's the point, they don't say that it does so I'm not left disappointed and annoyed that I have an inherently faulty screen in the Samsung.

It's not a problem they can fix with a firmware update, you'll have to get your TV replaced to have it sorted. All new ones shipping have it fixed now though.

Im still yet to see a Samsung without grainy picture quality. Esp up close it looks as tho sand has been thrown on the screen awfull.

Sony series are way ahead for picture perfect vision.
