Holding B initiates prog scan mode on boot up. But as no PAL Cube games have prog scan mode then naturally it won't do anything

Doesn't holding B innitiate 60htz mode on PAL Games that support it, hence why hold it to make PAL games viewable in theory. (never worked with any PAL game with my 1.06b freeloader.)

This is the case. He suggested hitting 60hz, because the NTSC machine wouldn't play it in 50hz.

I always had to use one of the alternative boot method when using PAL games on an NTSC cube. Instead of loading it through the freeloader menu as usual, try:

        1. Going to the disc-load menu on the console's frontend (on the cube it was where you looked at mem cards and disc contents) and when it displays the disc name/description/copyright info, open the lid and insert the PAL game disc you want to play. I haven't got a Wii so I don't know if this will work.

        OR,

        2. Loading the FL disc and pressing Y to bring up the region choice and select the Europe flag. Then load the PAL disc as normal.

If I didn't do this the PAL games would go to a black screen, IIRC.

I've never had to hold B to initiate 60Hz mode on any PAL Cube game I've booted on my NTSC machines, it auto comes up and asks.

Certainly RE2/3 (which are 50Hz only) worked on my GC without holding B - the Freeloader actually forced them to 60Hz automatically!

I think they booted as 50Hz if I used one of the alternative booting methods, which I guess helps for games that screw up when forced into 60Hz.

Holding B is for games that have a 60hz option, if you have not previously held B down and enabled 60hz. It remains on unless you select 50hz.

I take it the alt boot methods don't work for you, Jake?

Whilst it is the same whether for prog scan or 60Hz mode, I re-iterate what I said... I've never held B down for booting PAL games on NTSC Cubes, the games would auto ask me if I wanted to initiate 60Hz mode. Maybe the Cube was doing something cos it was 60Hz already...?

I very recently bought a brand new US version of Freeloader (the one with the new box art design and the 'Works with WII' splash on the front), and upon looking at the back of the disc it's 1.06b. There's a 1.06B now?! Can I contact Datel for a replacement.

My intention is to use the disc to boot PAL GC games on my US Wii.

The confusion. My head hurts. Alcohol or the technicalities of this thread, I dunno. >_<

When I'm sober I'll let you know.......

They make no difference, but I am using 1.06b anyway. I'll see if the one I ordered works.

Man, I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I just ordered version 1.06b to use with my US Wii specifically to play my Pal Resi collection… no joke.

Just to recap 1.06b won't work and 1.06B will, even though they both have 'works with Wii' printed on the box?

I can confirm a European (new version) Freeloader does NOT work on a US Wii

If anyone has an old version 1.06B (that's capital B) and wants a new version Freeloader (maybe you have a PAL Wii?), gimme a PM.

Has anybody actually got a single PAL GC game working on an NTSC Wii?

According to PlayAsia, 1.06B does NOT work on US Wii's, only 1.06b does...

I have yet to get a single PAL GC game working with 1.06b, they all seem to hang. The exception is RE2/3, which are 50Hz only and display no video.

I just got an US Wii this afternoon from VG+. I can't play it yet sadly as my 3rd party psu has not arrived from amazon. Hopefully it will come tomorrow along with the component cable. When it does Ill post on here if any of my PAL GC games work on it. I have two copies of freeloader GC not sure of the version(got one free with an ebay purchase of US Mario Golf).
