Nick, how did they inform you that you owed the additional money. Did you buy through VG+, and how come £72 was that to do with VAT or customs? I think including postage mine will come to about £400 so it would be good to know how much I might expect to pay.

I promise not to use my ps2 lead and will get the official RGB scart!

?72 was the import duty, and i got an official letter from DHL that i owed them it, as they had already paid customs, 6 months previous when i got the 360.

The total bundle was about ?400 iirc. 360, 2 games, extra controller. (it has since bitten the dust)

That would be my concern. If something went wrong with it, not really much chance of getting it fixed. Though the price seems so good.

i have recently bought a japanese PS3. i was thinking about importing it from the US at first after hearing about the price-drop and everything. yeah, it's the customs duty and VAT that screws it up.

there are quite a few US sellers on ebay though, and everyone i have spoken to about customs and sales tax have said they would mark it down as a gift. lol

anyway, the funny thing is, i bought my PS3 from a UK seller in the end for £300. as i'm dealing with someone within the UK, it's a lot less hassle. not really sure how much cheaper i may of got it if i was dealing with a US seller, but i doubt it would of been that much cheaper.

the point i'm trying to make is, have a look around to see how cheap you can buy one in your own country before going through the hassle of importing from another. you don't really know how much you will be paying in the end. you could be lucky, but at the same time, you could be seriously bent-over by customs.

Did you get your UK ps3 off of ebay? I think if I imported it from Canada it was about £320 though this is without customs and delivery.

Does seem a great price you got it for. Though I don't really like buying things that could go wrong from ebay though.

well this was from a seller who has a shop on ebay. the shop sellers are much more professional.

unfortunately the guy has sold out now though. at the price he was selling them, they don't stay there long.

i can PM you the seller i got it from if you like? he doesn't have any now i don't think, but you could ask him if he will be getting any more. the guy is perfectly legit though. he has perfect feedback, which is literally in the thousands, and as i said, he actually has a shop. he is not just your average joe trying to make a quick buck.

it's not actually a UK PS3 unfortunately. he is a UK seller who sells imported stuff. he must get them at wholesale prices though, which is why he sells them cheap.

the PS3 i have is japanese.
