You just need the VGA cable ! Your brothers will not work even if you can keep it, as it is a component cable, connectors for which you do not have !

My TV works fine now with my 360 (Thanks everyone! )

But after playing it for awhile i've realised that i'm not completely sure if i've gotten the right HD setting on my 360. Bearing in mind that it changes from 480p, 720p etc. to 800x6000, 1024x768 because i'm running it through a AV VGA cable.

How do I know if i've gotten it on the best HD setting for my TV and should I change the other option that is underneath the HD display setting off of standard?

set the console to output either 1280x720p or 1366x768

that should closest fit the resolution of your tv.

            Ok thanks

But what about the other option underneath the output settings? I can change it to standard, something else, and advanced or something like that. But it says if I turn it up too high it will reduce picture quality?

not sure about that havent had a 360 in a few months, must have been something included in an update. however if its something that will reduce pq i would leave it well alone.
