It's a modem & router all in one. Get something with 4 ethernet ports, so you can plug in your computer and xbox independently of each other. This means you don't need to have your computer running whilst trying to play xbox and vice versa. Wireless is a bonus too - it saves on having to trail ethernet wires all over the shop - although if it's a laptop it's not to big of a deal. Your laptop might even have a wireless card in it?

When I was with Tesco, this is the one they supplied and it worked fine with xbox, pc etc.

The other option is, if you're out of contract go to another service provider. Getting a MAC code from Tesco was very easy.
If you do decide to go elsewhere, I'd recommend www.bethere.co.uk there cheapest option is £14 per month, BE value:
. Up to 8 meg download speed
. Up to 1.3 meg upload speed
        . Unlimited usage
. Free wireless Be Box modem

If you do decide on Be, pm me as I have codes for free installation, also if you sign up via quidco you'll get either £24 or £55 back in cash depending on the offer.
