And to add to that pic: compo****e = ****e. component = goodness.
You get the composite in the box. Throw it away and get a component cable.

I am really sorry for being so vague, Up until now I have always used ntsc consoles using scart only and that has done me well but since getting a new tv and the new generation of consoles my life has become utterly irritating.

Here is the probelm in full:

I am using the cables that i get straight from the box - that being red, yellow and white. the inputs at the back of the tv blue green and red with red and white next to them and thats pretty much it. no yellow.

the only way I can get a picture of any kind is by plugging the yellow cable into the green (or maybe it was blue) input, but that picture is black and white so therefore useless.

      so thats where i am...

so if I buy a uk component cable it will run on my ntsc/u wii on my hdtv and I'll get a decent picture, right?

I can only apologise for the ammount of irritation and confusion that this thread is causing and cheers for the help!

You either need to find a scart block and hook the composite cable that you have into it or go and buy a component cable.

          Cheers bort,

I think I'll buy a component cable now that its been confirmed that it'll work on the machine seeing as it gives a better image. thanks for your help mate

Again there is a yellow port on the SIDE of your TV.

I guess I just didn't see it bootmonster. I'll have a good look for the little swine when I get home but it must have evaded my detection last night!

Yeah it'll be on the side no doubt, along with the S-video socket too. But indeed, go get that component cable

As booty says there should be a composite input on the side.

Most of us would have gone through this many times with friends and families so it isn't a problem.

There should be no reason to worry about the Wii itself since you actually got an image from it.

Actually I've just looked at my brother's 26" LCD TV and there is no separate composite input, the component is on the side with the S-video. If you want composite (for whatever reason) on it, you have to use a scart block for one of the two scarts in the back.

So it's entirely possible Boxhead may not have a yellow composite input on his flat screen...

well, I went out at lunch and aquired a component cable for the princely sum of just £12. if this ends my wii woes then that'll be great and thanks a billion for all your help!
