Don't suppose anyone's had the chance to try out a Freeloader on a JPN console yet have they?

Tried some GC games on a PAL Wii, here are the results:

Beach Spikers (US GC): "loading screen" appears, followed by a green screen (stops working)
Amazing Island (US GC): Black screen, does not work
MegaMan Anniversery Collection (US GC): Black screen, does not work
Sega Mega Collection (US GC): Works, but with black bar accross the botton of the screen, but is fully playable and everything is visable.

PAL GC Freeloader: Green screen ( not working)
PAL MaxDrive Pro: "Error Loading Disc, remove disc and restart the Wii" (not working)

Wii try and test some more tomorrow

I've had a bit of a mess around with it now, is that better for people?

Tried Sonic Gems Collection (JPN), F-Zero(JPN), Naruto GNT 3 (JPN) & Viewtiful Joe (JPN) last night on my PAL Wii. Sonic and Naruto don't boot at all, F-Zero would boot but with most of the on screen text missing then it just froze when I tried to start racing on Mute City. Joe did work but with a huge black border at the bottom of the screen.

                Spot on.

I wonder if that bloke Choddo still does the Freeloader compatability list? I haven't seen him here for years.

F-Zero GX (JP)doesn't work. It confuses it for a US version. What is translated on the disc appears as english but some menus are missing and it freezes before the first race. It's the exact same thing that happened with the quick swop exploit, bloody shame.

You need to update the SSBB comment as it does work on chipped consoles, it runs fine on the kids Wiinja v2 system

sounds like the wii freeloader, doesnt work all that well with GC games...perhaps they will be able to improve compatibility in future releases.

Yeah the Japanese version had partly translated english on the disc, it appears that whatever hacks the wiiloader uses causes these to show their faces.

New Freeloader -> UK PAL Wii -> US GC game compatibility:

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat -> No
Legend Of Zelda Four Swords -> No
                          Battalion Wars -> No
Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2 -> No on both.
Paper Mario Thousand Year Door -> No

This sucks. After using Freeloader, the Wii just hangs on a black screen whilst trying to load the Gamecube game.

I've tried doing inserting Freeloader twice in a row with no success and also tried putting in the new Freeloader and then old one after but just comes up with a read error (like it did when they updated the firmware).

So the funny thing is, on the packaging it doesn't actually state anywhere that it works with US Gamecube games. But at the place I bought it from it said it did work in the item description (and at other places too)

Although I contacted Datel to send me a JPN version when available they've ignored me and sent me 2 Euro versions, only paid for one. Anyway thought I'd give it a try on my JPN machine and as expected doesn't work

I received my 'WiiLoader' just today with a huge dissappointment.

                              Firmware: 3.1E
                              Console: PAL
Wii Game: Naruto Shippuuden: Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX (note, EX, not EX2) - NOT working.
In-depth: Just throws a blank screen after starting the game from Channel menu.

This is kinda annoying, they "promised" all games would work.

I think the claim was that it'd "allow you to play import GameCube games" and it appears to. It never said it'd work with more than 5% of them though...
