Curses! If you have house insurance you could perhaps make it have an accident, like
    Kept you waiting, huh?

I did this with a 14 month old Sky HD box that failed, I got a new ?300 box plus free call out?

      Good luck!

3 to 5 affected pixels doesn't fall under the non-satisfactory category. They'd have no obligation to do anything.

it even says in the guarentee slip (even if it WAS still under guarentee which it isn't) that a certain number of lit or stuck pixels in no way requires a valid claim, unless its say, 20 or so.

I'm screwed basically, but at least they are going to take a look at it this weekend.

mind you last time they did that, because there was a weird buzzing coming from the PSU at the back when I first got it, they sent two absolute muppets out who were more interested in the fact I had a PS3 at the time, and were asking about that rather than the TV problems itself, they brought out a 'loan TV' which was about 4 yrs old and had no HDMI, which was awesome as I couldn't actually use it with my PS3, then they tried squeezing my brand new TV into the loan TV box which was a totally different box, until I stopped them and brought the proper box out for it. They didn't know anything about TV's not being engineers, just pickup and delivery guys, and were actually from the Sony shop down the road as they share the same guys apparently.

I went into the shop and complained about all this and said how lame it was they had to use the Sony shops guys and stuff, and eventually sorted the issue and got a free 45 quid HDMI cable for my troubles, bleh.

its nice of them to take a look at it I guess, they could have just flat out refused or said tough titties.

hmm, I've had a look today and it seems one of the five has gone, it was obviously dark last night so I could see it in the top corner, today in daylight I can't. I can plainly see the other four still though. I bet they laugh at me in the store for being anal.

            ah so what.

Guys from the panasonic shop just came and it seems my TV is under 3yr warranty, and not 1yr. cool. They replaced my 32" with HDMI with a loan tv which is a TX26LXD1, which has no HDMI, and only component input, I tried my ps2 component cable and I can only get 576p, and no sound, what the hell. I'd have thought it could do 720p, uh , with sound as thats its only HD input.

now I'm running it in 576i on a scart cable. yeah! rock on

Should be about a week when I phone back and see how mine is going in the shop.

excellent, just got a phone call back and they did nothing, the LCD is 'within spec' meaning they aren't prepared to do anything about 5 stuck pixels.

                yayyyy! , oh wait,

at least its coming back for friday and I can get some MGS4 in. sigh

When I went shopping for a HD telly this time last year the first thing the sales guys started blabbing about was how a certain number of dead pixels was considered 'in spec' under British Standards or some such. Wiping their hands of the product before even showing it to me didn't inspire confidence I can tell you.

My son's touch screen monitor has developed a stuck red pixel right near the centre of the screen, doesn't bother him but annoys me no end, can only be seen on a solid black/white background. Tried the usual things to remove it but no joy. Ah well sure I'll get over it.

Yeah, I'll have to get over this now, there aint no changing the fact basically. Just annoys me how you pay so much money for something and you get this kind of treatment. I guess its true you can only see it on a black screen, and from the distance I'm viewing from you have no chance of seeing it, but its still there.

I read that due to the complex procedure manufacturing an LCD undertakes, if they simply binned or restarted when they had a stuck or dead pixel, well it wouldn't be worth their time actually making any at all. Sigh

I know just how you feel Kernow, with regard to focusing on the problem once you know it's there. My 4 month old Panny recently had to go away for repair due to minor backlight bleeding on the lower right of the screen. It was only noticable on dark scenes and w/s bars etc but I found myself looking for it constantly (though my wife was blissfully unaware). Had they not fixed it I was prepared to kick off or even buy a new set if necessary ... luckily for our bank balance they fixed it.

The days of a family TV lasting 15 years are well and truly over. Not only with the rate of change/progress but the technology is so fragile. That's just how it is
