I always used to buy 360 for the better controller, but because of the hardware reliability I am now a PS3 gamer instead.

In reply to Mgear:
Aside from the first year multi-format releases, I can't tell the difference between PS3 and 360 versions. Your buying habits should be influenced by pad preference, which system your friends play on, system reliability, exclusive DLC etc. We have never had such parity between systems, this is not a ST vs Amiga or Saturn vs PSX situation. Take the Eurogamer comparisons with a pinch of salt, they're just there to drum up site hits and fuel forum console wars (look at their own forums and comments pages, it's a cesspit!). They are also never updated to reflect changes in patches and never mention the PS3's DTS sound.
If playing the best version of a game is really that much of a concern then buy a gaming PC. At least there the differences are noticeable and not some placebo.

Just to add, I'm appreciate in some cases differneces are negligible (I've only recently bought the PS3 as mentioned before), but I do think it's nice to able to read up on the detailed comparison to make sure there aren't any nasties hidden in the version of the game your buying. For example screen tearing is a slight annoyance you can avoid sometimes.
Out of interest I do own a reasonable gaming PC too (C2D/4GB/Nv8800), but this generation I've been smitten more with the consoles (360 mostly obvously given I've owned it much longer) becuase of the better online, nice joypads, HD visuals and achievements etc. And becuase more often than not the PS3/360 is the target platform.
For example I bought Fallout 3 on the 360, instead of the superior PC version becuase it's good enough for me. L4D, although I'm still thinking about, will likely be bought on the PC - due to the strengths of that version.
So as mentioned before, I think it's a case-by-case when considering which platform to buy a game.Last edited by Digfox; 18-12-2008, 22:51.

I use the PS3 more and more as the pad is superior and the madia capabilities, web browser and now Iplayer support just make it the console of choice.
As a media extender I prefer the 360.
I believe the 360 PAD is better for sticks and triggers, but the PS3 pad has a better D-pad.
I think the web browser on PS3 is limited as many website don't seem to work well and when using youtube it always seems to get really slow to type in text.
I like all my consoles, but the PS3 remains the one that dissapoints.
Anyway, sorry if that's drivel. It's just an opinion.

I was disappointed by a recent interview with Todd from Bethesda. When asked why DLC was only coming for the 360 and PC versions of Fallout 3 he said that they analysed how the DLC sales went for Oblivion and decided that there was no point in doing Fallout 3 DLC for PS3...
There was no DLC for PS3 Oblivion was there? That would explain the low sales figures surely!

If he really said that he's kind of a jerk! Microsoft paid for the DLC, to make out PS3 owners are at fault for not buying enough horse armour when they had no option to anyway is very disingenuous.

He did say that. I'll find out what podcast it was on. Probably IGN's GameScoop.
EDIT: Gamescoop 102
Scoop interviewer:
"So why not the Playstation 3?"
Todd:
"There's a number of factors in that"
"Most of it boils down to what our experience was of Oblivion"
"[e.g.] How did the DLC go?"
"It's definitely a better fit on those platforms [360 and PC] so that's where we decided to focus our energies"
So, one reason was that they looked at how the DLC went on PS3 and decided not to bother. Well, I never saw any DLC on PS3 so pardon me for not buying it.Last edited by Brad; 19-12-2008, 12:51.

It seems to be former Sony exclusives like DMC and Tomb Raider that perform better on the PS3.
If the split was 50/50, then the PS3's attach rate would be way above the 360's, which clearly it isn't.
