UK based import Wii repair specialists?

As Nintendo UK failed to reply to either of my emails requesting support I phoned them and was told as expected that they would not be able to service my Wii as it was a Japan model with "totally different parts". Ha ha, laughable, they must think we're stupid. Nothing to do with protecting regional profit margins then by not offering support? Of course not.

Anyway despite the disc drive having been hardly used, its making unpleasant noises and clearly needs repairing. I'm well outside warranty, does anyone have any recommendations for a UK based Wii repair company, else I'll get a screwdriver out myself...

Actually I just found a you tube video with a fix for exactly my problem so I'll try that first http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp1ZQS4UC9g.

Still if anyone has any suggestions for a repairer it would be good to know.

You could find out which companies do the repairs for Nintendo, then go straight to them direct.

Thanks Guys, I'm saving the Manchester guys details in case I need them in the future, that's a great contact, I have a GameCube that needs repairing too but I've already got a replacement laser from China so I'll try fitting that myself first.

I found another video easily on opening the Wii http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8epu...eature=related The only specialist tool required was 3 squid on Ebay so I just bought one as the fix looks easy enough.

          Thanks again.

If this is the same problem I had, then there's a very simple solution that doesn't require opening the "hood".

Simply start your Wii with the disc already inserted. If you don't have the disc inserted, insert it and then turn off the Wii and then back on again.

The problem was caused (on my Wii, at least) by part of the insertion mechanism; if I'm not inserting a disc, I don't get the problem.

I suffered the noisy drive for about six months before finding this solution on the net. I've been noise-free for a year.

That's weird. That first video I posted seems to be the fix to all these noise related problems, I don't mind opening my Wii as I'm outside the warranty so I'll take a look next weekend probably.
