Hopefully this might help someone out:
Q. What is the latest firmware version for the PSP Go?
A. 6.10
Q. Can I download and play games from foreign regions?
A. Yes (but see 'Activation' below)
Q. Can I activate my PSP on different accounts e.g. a UK account and a US account?
A. Yes. Only one account at a time can be active and you can only play games that you downloaded from the active account. To switch accounts requires you to be in WiFi range, or to have tethered your PSP Go to your mobile phone via bluetooth:
1. Delete your existing PSN account (none of your downloads are deleted)
2. Sign up for a new one
3. Choose to use an existing account
4. Enter your alternative account details
5. Come back out (no need to enter the store)
6. Choose to Activate your PSP Go for the current account
Sounds like a pain? It is.
Q. Can I still log in to the Playstation website and activate it that way?
A. No. The activator will tell you that there is newer firmware for your PSP and that you need to upgrade that first (you don't though).
Q. Will my component/composite leads from my PSP 2000/3000 work?
A. No
Q. Will my PSU from my 1000/2000/3000 work?
A. No
Q. Will my Pro Duo memory cards work?
A. No, you need to by the newer M2 cards
Q. Can I still use the cheap and freely available USB->Mini USB cables to connect/charge my PSP Go?
A. No, you need a proprietary cable (supplied) to connect to a PC or to charge.
Q. Is the supplied cable a bit too short?
A. Yes ;-)
Q. Will ANY accessory for my PSP 1000/2000/3000 work with my PSP Go?
A. Not really. Cases might still fit, not well though.
Q. Will I get Gran Turismo for free?
A. If you register your new PSP between 1st and 10th Octobr 2009 then yes.
Q. Can I get any free games from Sony?
A. yes, if you have a 1000, 2000 or 3000 PSP and one PAL UMD for it
Q. Cool, how do I get my free games?
A. Visit the Playstation store with your new PSP Go using the built-in WiFi to register it. Then visit the store using the store again using your old PSP with a UMD in it and choose the same option and you'll eventually receive a code for 3 free games.
* Should find out definite details on 1st Oct 2009
Q. Can I convert my old UMDs to work on my PSP Go?
A. No
Q. Is the PSP Go any good?
A. Subjective answer is yes. It's better than the old models in every way. The display is great, the nub is better positioned and feels much nicer, the shoulder buttons, face buttons and D-Pad all feel much nicer IMO. I can pull off Hadoukens and Dragon Punches fairly consistently in SF Alpha. I could never do that on previous PSPs.
Q. Is it worth the money (£225 at time of writing)
A. Of course it isn't but if you want one, gaming is your passion, you like shiny new things and you're feeling loaded then why not help Sony pull back some of the billions of Yen they've haemorrhaged on the PS3?
If anyone has any other useful bits of info please post them.
