Fable works on a PAL machine! Tried to today just to see if it worked and it did Great news for me as my Modded xbox has a Thompson dvd drive.

Does Ninja Gaiden US work on a PAL XBOX?

I'd like to know if Ninja Gaiden really is region free, cause it's cut in Germany. Or is the UK version of NG uncut like the US version? If it is , this would be an alternative.

UK version is cut as well

It would have been uncut if Microsoft had submitted it to the BBFC as a "15" but they wouldn't - they didn't want it to have any age rating on it, so it could sell to a wider audience...

Makes no difference, it was cut because of German's thing against decaps. NTSC versions are region free but only on NTSC machines, it will not work on a PAL machine.

That was because of the (mandatory) PEGI system. If they had submitted a different version to the BBFC (with decapitations) it would have been passed, but with a BBFC 15 certificate (which over-rules the PEGI certificate)

But, as with the movie industry, Microsoft were more concerned with sales than artistic integrity

It would have meant two PAL versions but there's nothing wrong/illegal about that. In the UK, films have a compulsory rating system and they are allowed to have more than one version on sale (hence Extended cuts, Director's Cuts etc) so I'd be very surprised if games were treated differently

I was just saying it's legal/possible because there's no reason why Microsoft couldn't have done a UK-only, more graphic, version and sold it alongside the pan-European one.

Aye, exactly what I was getting at -- they got a bad case of cba Ninja Gaiden is great though, I hope everyone imported it...
