Can you be certain that LOC of contact is region free, i need to know becuase im going to buy the UK version for my NTSC xbox if so

I can tell you now that MechAssault isn't region free - it's "elsewhere" (UK, Australia etc) and US only... so it wouldn't work on an unmodded Japanese 'box.

You need to get PS2 chipped for playing NTSC games. Go to Will in London.

It work on my Ameircan and European XBOX but it is American version of game. I don't have PAL version. So it should be ok.

Yeah works for me too, I`ve got a Canadian copy of RSC2 and it works on PAL machines

I have NTSC PS2. are there region free games for PS2 too or only for XBOX. Region free means it plays both PAL and NTSC right?

Regio free means a game will work on an unmodded console of any region, either ntsc/j (asia), ntsc/u (America/Canada), or pal (European/Australian).

PS2 games are all region encoded, only the Xbox of the current generation has some region free games.

You can use a boot disk, but you need to replace part of the case (or use a knife) to swap disks.

A mod chip makes the most sense.

One thing I've fouind is that different prints of the games have different region capabilities. For example You might find that the NTSC version is region free, but the PAL version isn't. There is a game that suffers from this but I can't remember it off hand. RS2 PAL plays on my NTSC Xbox.

Remembered it. Mace Griffin NTSC plays on a apparrently plays on a PAL console but the PAL version does not play on a NTSC XBOX.
