XBox 360 HDMI vs Component

    Basically none. Due to the way digital signals work, there's no automatically quality improvement by using higher quality cables. If the cable is doing it's job, it will look exactly as it should. If there are problems with the signal, it will result in distortion of the image, but you're unlikely to get those kinds of problems.

    The only people who need to invest in higher quality cables are those intending to use longer lengths of cable (10m+).

    The same goes for switchers really. I use an old non-powered 3 way switcher that I bought 3 years ago for £20.

      oh but i'm positive my ?50 QED HDMI lead displays a better image

        I've one of those £50 QED HDMI cables hooked up to my 360 and it definately, on my TV at least, provides a better picture than VGA or component. It ain't a huge improvement over VGA, but it is better.
