For anyone who has an opinion that 3D is just gimmicky, check out motorstorm 3D on a 50inch Panny and then tell me 3D is just a "gimmick". When done right, especially on games 3D can create the sort of immersion which you will never get with 2D.

TBH wipeout was a dissapointment because of the huge framerate drop. Evolution studios on the other hand with Motorstorm have either found a way round issues with 3D or just have excellent programmers, as Motorstorm 3D is running at the same framerate as the normal version

Also this thing with the whole having to where glasses I dont get. I where glasses for watching TV anyway, so It doesn`t make any difference. Plus people who I heard say that where glasses to, so it doesn`t make a deal of difference for them either. Fair dues If you don`t have to wear perscription glasses, but you soon forget about them when your stuck into a film or game.

Will it catch on? To a certain degree Yes. It will never be mainstream where everything is broadcast in 3D, but more of a side dish like HD used to be when It first started out.

If your happy with your TV don't upgrade, if your TV broke or old or need a bigger screen upgrade.

I have no interest in wearing glasses every time for 3D content... I'll buy one of the TVs once they figure out how to do it properly without glasses.

            .
Does Motorstorm run at 30fps where Wipeout is 60?

              Wipeout is 30fps in 3D.

I heard Motorstorm had to be dropped to standard-def to get it to run in 3D smoothly, is that true? Personally I wouldn't mind that much - I don't find resolution as important for a lot of games as I do frame rate, provided it's not a Wii-style blur fest.

Yes but in 2d Wipeout is 60 so it isnt a shock that it wont run the same in 3D.
                Which is what I meant.

Motorstorm 2 3d runs at 30fps in 720p likes it's 2d cousin wipeout I don't bother with in 3d as the performance hit is to big after playing it at 60fps all this time.

Set my new Sumsung tv up yesterday and it's impractically large for my room. Great picture but some input lag when net surfing with the PS3. Only managed to try the 3D out so far with the Pacific Rift demo but... it might just be my eyes but the effect seemed far more pronounced than at the cinema. Well chuffed.

Yup that's the one, had a play around with last night as I had to get the 360 up and running in HDMI too. As far as I can see there's no trouble with dark lines or any other image issues.

I wouldn't say so, but Panasonic have finally introduced some smaller 3D Plasmas at IFA this year. They're still at the high end of the price scale though.
