    Sony Trinitron KV21LT1U PS2/Dreamcast issue

Just got one of these TV's second hand last weekend, have had the NTSC Cube hooked up via a modded Saurian RGB cable since then and the picture looks fantastic.

Tonight however i have connected up first the Pal PS2 and then my Pal Dreamcast via RGB cables and the picture from both consoles is heavily bordered and has a horizontal white line across the screen at the top. I've used both consoles and cables on numerous TV's before with no problems so i'm baffled as to why this might be. I've had a nose round the net but cant seem to find any info about it

    Has anyone experienced anything similar?

    Cheers for the help!

Silly question probably, but have you run a game at 60hz? Oh and don't SONY TV's have a full screen button you have to press?

Thanks man, there was a button on the remote - it was set to 16:9! Doh!

Would've been nice to mention that in the manual really

The Cube must have automatically forced it full screen due to it being an NTSC signal or something

It depends on the voltage on the pin that controls auto switching to the AV channel.

If I may hijack this thread for a brief moment, I saw a Sony Trinitron at a car boot sale at the weekend. I was going to buy it but it only had one scart on the back with no indication if it was RGB or not. The seller didn't know either, so I passed on it.

I don't know what model it was, but it was non widescreen portable and looking at the remote I guessed a less recent model.

Is their usually 2 scarts on the back of a Trinitron if it's RGB Scart?

I picked up the exact model a few weeks ago at a boot fair. Image quality is amazing

My NTSC-U PS2 has to be manually switched to 4:3 from widescreen. Played RR4 for about an hour on my 14" Trinitron before I discovered the aspect switching button and went full screen.

Tip: some of the later Trinitrons don't have a "Permanent Off" feature for the speakers- annoying if you're using an AV amp or a proper sound setup. Cutting the 3.5mm jack off an old pair of earphones and trimming it down to size means that you can plug it in to cut out the speakers and you can still close the little flap on the front too.

No doubt it was at a car boot sale because the owners had just got a brand new "amazing" quality budget LCD. Joke's on them! If you don't mind me asking what'd you pay for it?
