Overclockers ship quickly, and have a decent range, but they are not at all easy to deal with when returning anything. Never try to call them as you will not get through in any reasonable time, and they are just arsey in general with returning stuff.

    I would say avoid them.

I tend to use dabs now. Quick and professional, although so far I have not had to return anything.

I've also had good experiences with Scan, but again, have never returned anything. Scan in my experience are very cheap too. For gfx cards a lot cheaper than OCUK and Dabs.

I'd only use Overclockers as a last resort. They seem to think they are doing you a favour, instead of them just providing goods that you have paid for.

The crew that run Overclockers are not the most straight bunch anyway, enough said really but they really are dodgy as ****

I just bought a really cheap base unit from DOS.co.uk they were very polite and helpful over the phone and delivery wasn't expensive at ?4.99 and it came two days later, you can't really beat that sort of service. I'll bealing with them again.

Just ordere an MB, case and CPU from Ebuyer. They were very competitively priced and delivered 1 day early (I was notified of this via email).

Next delivery can go to another addreess ie: work, so it's all good.

              Would definitely recommend them.

How bad are OCUK exactly? I'm about to order some Corsair memory, a graphics card and some Arctic silver paste from them..... what's the chance of getting them without hassle. I hate hassle.

You'll almost certainly get them without hassle. The hassle comes if you have to return them. OCUK do not like returns. (in my experience, they basically wash their hands of them whenever possible and say contact the manufacturer)

Up until just about a year ago I recommended OCUK to everyone, they were a 'human' company amongst the faceless hordes. The prime example being Christmas '03 when they got me a load of parts the Christmas week because I was putting toghether a computer as a present and being very friendly and helpful about it.

Then April last year I got an Antec Sonata case from them which was completely knackered. They made me feel like a tramp asking for an exchange and then they wouldn't pay the postage because I didn't send a receipt for it (no matter how many times I told them the price is franked on the Royal Mail postage sticker).

But I decided to give them this one mistake until the next time I ordered and they didn't post the stuff until two days after I put in the order and having to ring them to get the order packing. Same thing happened 5-6 weeks after that (having to ring them and finding out the order wasn't being packaged).

Dunno, I went off them completely so I go for ebuyer and komplett now and I'm happy.

I will say that at OCUK there are one or two blokes who do their utmost, it's a shame the others are complete arseholes.

I have whole heartedly recommended Overclockers in the past.

It's a true test of how good a company is when you have to return something, and I had to return something to OC the back end of last year. When I was finally able to get through, the procedure was painless enough - The issues started when they sent out the replacement unit, bearing in mind I had upgraded the item I returned by ?120 to a top of the range model - I was very disappointed when they sent a second hand unit out.

Luckily for them I had paid with a card that didn't quite have the same protection as a credit card, else they wouldnt have been payed - It's certainly put me off using them.

They are starting to become a victim of their own success in my opinion

Just got a GeForce 6800GT 256mb from eBuyer. Very quick and hassle free, and the cheapest price around. Recommended.

Awesome card btw. Replaced my old Radeon 9800 Pro, and has transformed the likes of Riddick and Doom 3 from near unplayable jerkyness to virtually flawless 60fps!

I downloaded NVTweak and overclocked it to 6800 Ultra speeds and it's running absolutely fine too, even after a 2 hour Doom 3 session! No heat problems, something my 9800 Pro had plenty of when stressed. (and that wasn't even overclocked)

I've just used OverClockers UK to buy a Maxtor Hard Disk and had no problem with them. Ordered in the afternoon and delivered the next morning.

It's just if you want to risk using them I guess.

I have to say that every single person/zombie that serves you at the Scan warehouse in Bolton are the most miserable lot of people I've ever been unfortumate to meet. Dont try smiling at them as they blank you, dont try talking except to answer the questions :

                          "Post Code?",
                          "What do you Want?"
                          "That will be ????"
                          "Take a Seat over there!"

Very Very Miserable lot. Dont even say thank you when you sign for the goods and look at you stupidly when you check what they are giving you.

Hmm it must vary I guess. My flatmate had a 9800pro go slightly wonky about 6 months down the line and they gladly exchanged it for a brand new one with no fuss. I was impressed.

Personally, I won't be using eBuyer again. Ordered some RAM a few weeks ago and it was DOA with errors on the stick. Thought I'd phone and request a replacement and found they don't have a phone line. I then submitted a request for an RMA number and waited a few days - nothing. Raise a ticket on their system and get told that their team are currently taking 10-14 days to issue RMA numbers. Further two weeks later and still absolutely nothing, I can't even start the return process, absolute joke.

I'm never using OCUK again. Their support is non existent. I ordered a nice hyundai 19inch tft after reading the thread on here. They we're very quick and efficent in taking my order and even in shipping it but they sent me a grade b product (2nd hand) without any instructions, druvers or leads!! It was in an unmarked box and to top of it there was a dead pixel right in the center of the screen.

It's been 3 weeks now of using their crappy web notes and their 1 phone line which rings through all the time. Finally got through a couple of days ago to be told they had just had a system crash and couldn't pulll up my details. Bolloks i rekon and i'm hugely disappointed.

Avoid OcUK like the plague, if you want top notch service head to Kustom PC's. They ain't a large outfit but the service and delivery from them is absolutely spot on...
