Those tracker error messages in the middle of a download aren't much of a worry. It just means that new seeders or leechers can't join the swarm.

If they happen in the beginning then just leave it for a while to see if it eventually starts downloading.

The reason it's prob happening with a lot of files is that they're all using the same tracker.

The tracker is the "coordinator" of the whole bit torrent idea. The download itself is peer to peer but you need a way of learning who else is part of the swarm. and a lot of people just tend to use the big ones and their hosts bandwidth gets sapped or throttled very quickly.

You'll notice this even more towards the end of the month when sites like suprnova.org are essentially useless.

Most fancy BT clients will tell you who the tracker is so you'll know why a ton of downloads are failing.

If you use the default client like I do that TorrentSpy is your friend.

Just to add my two cents' worth to the discussion, I've always used the Azureus Java BitTorrent client from sourceforge.net and had hardly any problems at all.

Sometimes it hogs my CPU a bit for no particular reason, but it's never crashed, remembers and resumes downloads if you exit halfway through, and consistently gets between 50kbps and 80kbps on my NTL broadband line...
