      1. Make a list of all the people likely to visit your house.
      2. Add together all their heights (including your own) and divide by the number of people in the survey
      3. Halve that (this formula assumes the distance between arse cheeks and ears is about half the overall height)
      4. Add on the height of your sofa from floor to seating cushion

That's how tall your speaker stands should be in order for your mean average listener to experience top notch audio.

I am NOT a professional audio engineer.

          Thanks Michael.

They look pretty perfect & based on this...

          They should be perfect

Just measured my sofas & they are 37cm from floor to top of cushion so actually thinking about it the 80cm ones you have may be too tall??

I take it you mean 37cm to the cushion you sit on, otherwise you must have the lowest sofa in the world! Floor to (arse) cushion on mine is 41cm. I'm being looked at as if i'm mental for measuring this up at this time of night by the way..............

Lol I got some odd looks myself...especially since i'm re-measuring at gone 5am
Do you know what though im an eejit...that should be 37 inches not cm

So in cms its actually 94 from floor to top of cushion so will need stands a little bigger me thinks

I thought 37 cm sounded wrong!

If they are 94cm you probably want 100cm (ish) stands, although do your ears pass the back of the sofa when you are sitting on it? As in, although the back is taller than Ikobo/my sofa, is the seat also higher up? As if not speakers higher than the back of your sofa might actually be higher than ear height which probably isn't what you want...

When I was looking I found it quite hard to even find any stands taller than those Pixel T80s, I guess most people must wall mount if higher than that but some of us (renters!) don't have that luxury of banging nails into walls...

What do you mean?? 37cm's is fine...I buy midget sofa's

Depends on if I'm sitting up straight or in a slouch.
If I'm sitting up then my ears are above the top of the back of the sofa...if I'm chillaxing then they are about level or just under the top of the back.

Will try to get some pics if I can later to give you an idea of the sizes.

I would consider wall mounting but Mission 731's are notoriously hard to find brackets for...they have really weird backs so need specific brackets & even then I don't think that would work with the current layout of the lounge so stands will be the only way forward.

Atacama do a set of Nexus 10i stands which are 100cms but expect that once the speakers are on then they may be too tall.
I think I read somewhere that the Tweeter should be around ear level & the Tweets on the 731's are underneath the Mids so think possibly the 100cm stands would be ok as the tweeter will be just above the stand plate & the mid will be much higher up (guessing nearer 125-150cms from the floor so a good 20-40cms above my ear level)

Going to have to look at this some more me thinks.

I always have mine set slightly lower or quite a bit higher than ear height, it sort of diffuses the surround and make listening position less critical.

Just buy a cheap ?10 sound meter from Maplin to set them up properly, that will make more difference.
