    Which PC Joypad???

I really badly need a good joypad for my pc. The main use will be for driving games, so I need analogue. I also love emulation, so I need a good D-PAD to play all the classics.

I noticed the Saitek P2500 PC Rumble Force Pad. Is it any good???

Also the Sidewinder game pad, is this what I need???

    All advice much appreciated, cheers!!!

Yes the Saitek one is good - I got it for ?12 new which was a bargain but I can't remember where. It is not as good as the old logitech wingman rumblepad (it had one of those slider things for throttle) but you can't get the version I had now. The new version is probably as good.

If you already have console controllers then it is probably better to go for a converter though.

Gotta agree with PH. Get yourself a convertor box and use a dual-shock. Better than any native PC pad. I had a thrustmaster firestorm pad a while back, and although the functions were good, and the analogue was ok, the dpad sucked. I bought one of these not long ago, and now I just use my Dualshock complete with both analogue sticks and all the buttons. Superb.

Of course, if you'd rather something other than a dualshock, there are pefectly good converters for everything from Saturn to XBox. I got myself two; the MagicBox (Saturn, DC and PS2 but only one at a time) and the Joybox-13 (Gamecube) from Console Plus in the UK. These also work with my DC and GC arcade sticks, which makes playing games in Mame great.

The convertor route is the way to go in my humble opinion too.

That way you also get access to all the other PS stuff that you might want to use such as sticks, wheels and bizarre stuff! Get a two player one and its all good. You can pick up DSs anywhere easily and they are consistent.

Actually, you don't need a converter for PS2 wheels. The Logitech Driving Force is a USB connection already, and runs just fine on Windows - I use mine for Live For Speed.

Thanks guys. Was after a decent PC pad myself, but the convertor is exactly what I'm looking for. Can finally get to play Silent Hill 2, yippee!
Once again, thanks for the heads up!

I got one of those and it suffers from that irritating .1 second delay. Makes all the fighters unplayable.

Can anyone recommend a converter that'll work so I can play my bro with our Hori sticks.

I bought myself one of those last week. Tried it on FIFA at first (just to try it you understand), and the pad constantly rumbled. And lo! there is no way of disabling the shock function.

Then tried it on Silent Hill 3. And behold! it seemed to get itself in a tiz as the options scroller was going ape ****. Unplugged the pad, same thing, unplugged the adaptor and it was ok.

Back on my old Thrustmaster now.

                        Maybe it's just a one-off knackered adaptor, but I ain't impressed ft:

With the PS2 pad I did need to recalibrate to get it to recognise where the middle was, and also discovered while doing so that Windows wasn't terribly interested in what the right analogue stick was up to on the calibration screen and only worked once through it (so you have to calibrate blind). Once done so it was fine, however.

The legacy of the Tripping Machiiiiiine continues! It's quite intriguing to wake up on a monday and think "what utterly bizarre and inexplicable **** is going to happen to my PC this week"
