I don't know if they are comparable, but my "windows experience index" was 4.1 in win7 (repeatable every time) but only 3.9 in win8
My "desktop graphics performance" is the lowest. Everything else is up way higher, including 3D gfx.

They might have moved the goalposts in Win8 so I wouldn;t worry about that.

I installed the beta AMD drivers last night and tweaked some settings and now all is well in the world once more i.e. all my games are smooth and solid again. yay!

Right clicking the bottom left hand corner is now cool and essential.

            Nope, they're probably just stupid.

I've installed it and the beta on several regular Bios motherboards. They must be exceptionally stupid.

I use it on my macbook, due to my needs I decided to install Windows 8 as I get it free; I can say that the OS itself is very fast.

I would recommend you use a tool to bypass the 'metro' interface as I cannot see a use for it on a desktop PC, or even that you keep Windows 7 if there's nothing wrong with your installation. If you have to pay for it, it's not worth it.

"How do I set first boot device? O_o"

And I don't get what's so bad about Metro still. I'd rather use it than have a third party program using more of my resources.

I upgraded to Windows 8 while it was cheap.

Here's why: I have 22gb of RAM in this machine and my previous version was Win7 Home Premium, which was locked into only using 16gb of it.

Upgrading to Windows 8 for 25 pounds was the cheapest way to get all my memory.

And it's fine. Metro is a design disaster (having only one screen open at once? This is a computer, not a telephone!) but I installed Start8 to get my start menu back, meaning I never have to look at it. I did give it a chance but filling an entire screen just when I hit the Start Button and want to search for or run programs is jarring. Not a huge deal in the scheme of things, but definitely a step backwards.

So it's now basically a slightly different version of Windows 7 sans Aero where I can use all my RAM. What else... the new copy dialog box is nice? Uh.. that's kind of it.

I don't see what the point of upgrading would be for most people but I wouldn't avoid it either, since you can pay $5 for Start8 and get a nice usable OS.

I don't get people's issue with Metro. Get rid of all the default **** and add shortcuts to the programs you use.

                      You can also add directories.

                      meh

Is the taskbar no longer see through? Sounds gay.

Taskbar is see through, but window frames aren't.

Its hardly a design/UX masterpiece is it? I really want to know how long it took them and what the full charge was cos they got ROBBED. Plus I can't use it anyway my notebooks res is 1280x720 and apparently the difference means I cant run metro (secretly I am glad.)

Hmm. My laptop is only 1024x768. I wonder. Desktop is 1920x1200 and Metro is a joy.

Yep it requires 1024x768 I am on a notebook. There is a registery hack for Intel cards but this is AMD based and seemingly the hack doesn't work.
