Downloaded Skate xbox360, but every time it is corrupt

I have a US 360 with locale set to UK. I've had no trouble downloading things in the past.
I went to the store on the console and selected Skate for ?4.49
It then took me to the confirm window which said $4.99....
So I used $ in my account (which I use on the Xbox One) to pay for it.
It was fine, gave me no warnings about region.
    It downloaded 5GB.
It briefly appeared on my games list and then disappeared a moment later and in storage, it appeared as the corrupt (!) symbol.
I deleted it and tried again. Same result.

    Any ideas?

Is your hard drive nearly full? If so you might have a bad sector on it, I have about 10GB left on my 240GB and I often have to install a game multiple times for it to work, I assume the drive has a small bad sector on it these days.

First thing to do is clear your xbox360 cache, via the store location options as that can cause issues.

Option 1: Clear a lot of space 10 - 15GB off you hard drive then re-download it

Option 2: Get a new or fresh working 16GB or 32GB USB drive and format it so the 360 can use it, then download the game to that directly.

If option two doesn't work then either the download for Skate is screwed at MS's end and they need to fix it. Wouldn't be the first time MS have put up a bad download during a sale. Check twitter etc see if anyone else is complaining.

Is the ? symbol in your post a mistake or what you saw as I wonder if the location it download the game from was the UK, but that wouldn't show as a bad download. That or I assume you where connected to the USA XBL service at the time? As if your region was set to UK there is a chance it may have connect to the UK server instead, due to the UK IP. This was an issue that caused players to access MS partner network in the past if an IP outside the region tried to connect and allowed then to download games from it. However I suspect this scenario to be unlikely from what you say.

The ? was intentional. It switched between the storefront and the confirmation dialogue.
I'll try the other stuff thanks.

I deleted a bunch of stuff so there was loads free and tried again a few times. Still no joy (5GB with corrupt sign).

How do I get it to download to a USB stick? I have an 8GB xbox360 stick and the download is 5GB, but it is not showing me the option to download to it (it just selects HDD for me).

I did read that if you try and download a game from a different region via a VPN, it will arrive corrupt - I'm not doing this, but I'm wondering if all the settings I have on xbox.com are causing an issue (even though they work with the Xbox One).

Have you tried deleting the system cache? I've seen this happen before and doing that resolved it.

I got this with Resi 6. Perfect first time, corrupted from then on. Bought the retail version cheap in the end, discovered it wasn't worth all the fuss anyway, pah!

I haven't deleted the Marketplace System Data - I'll try that.

Also, maybe if I remove the HDD, it will give me the option to download to the USB

I take it the USB stick is set up for the Xbox360 and that when you insert it, it shows up as a second removable dive in the store option it should allow you to download the game to it when you select download it should give you a storage option. Removing the hard drive should force it to download to the USB.

If that doesn't work try setting your locale on the xbox to the USA and see what happen.

Yeah, it's an official Xbox360 Stick. I removed the HDD and had to download the console update. There was 7GB left on the stick and it's a 5GB download, but after a while it said "can't download this content" or something like that.

I think it's a region lock thing. I changed my account to US when I got the Xbox One.

I think as a last resort you should try deleting your User Profile from the 360 (Don't delete any of the games, just the profile). Then re-download the profile and try to install Skate again.

I'd be curious if this fixes it so please keep us updated if you try!

While I'm not absolutely sure, I believe Skate is region and / or IP-locked. Regional and IP restrictions should have thrown an error code and prevented you from making the purchase in the first place, but it seems that the purchase somehow went through.

                          I'd say your options are:

                          a) Forget about the game and what it cost you.
                          b) Use a VPN to download it (which, for what it's worth, is against Microsoft's Terms of Service).
                          c) Physically move to the US and download it. You'd have to either take your console with you or have access to someone else's console and bring back the download in a USB drive.
                          d) Give someone you trust in the US the details to log into your account. Said person would then download the game and ship it to you in a USB drive.

I realise most of the options I've listed are terrible but they're the ones you have available.

I changed my account region to UK.
I tried to download it. It gets to 78% and then starts again at 1% and keeps going round and round until I tell it to stop....
I guess this was also happening before I changed my region, but I didn't sit there and watch it before

So.... I reckon a call to MS support - I think their server copy is screwed. I agree that all the region locked ones I've tried to buy before showed me a "you can't do this" message, but I never got this for this game.

Loving your options. Covering all the bases!

Have you migrated an US account to the UK or have you simply changed your location on the console (which should make little difference in this case)? If you've migrated an account, you've lost that account's balance.

Since you mention a currency change in your first post, are you sure you're initiating the download while signed in as the purchasing gamertag?

There have been cases where the hosted version of a Game on Demand is screwed, and Microsoft should be able to refund you in such a case. If you're going to contact support, don't mention any region inconsistencies... They don't like those.
