Most likely third party ones rather than Nintendo brand...

Though if he gets DK64, he might get lucky and it'll still have the memory expansion that it came with as standard. Probably not though...

Nope definitely official nintendo ones mate..seen prices vary from a tenner up to 40 but all officials. Probably clueless staff not knowing what theyv got ....at greedy buggers like gamestation at the other end of the scale.

Well he might also get lucky when he gets his N64 too... quite often people leave the expansion in there without remembering to remove it and get extra money for them separately

...or unlucky and the placeholders been removed

Im sure at least 1 person trading theirs in at my shop left the expansion in but my colleueaeueges...fellow staff...didnt think to check. Only 1 gamefan in an entire shop staff makes for extremely rich pickings though

I paid ?75 for a US machine with the tabs removed to play Jap games, RGB modded, official RAM expansion, 2 official controllers, official rumble pack, an unofficial memory card, Jap versions of Starfox and F-Zero X and a UK PSU so as not to have to mess around with a stepdown. You can probably get a US machine on it's own for dirt cheap though.

I paid $6 for my US machine + $12 postage. Ripped the tabs off and did the rgb mod myself.

Word of warning, you mentioned svid is fine on your TV, except the svid output from the N64 is atrocious. Stupidly bright. Well, it was on both my un-rgb-modable Jap machine and my rgb-modable US machine. Better off with composite or rgb.

I got my mint-in-box expansion pack for ?15 on ebay earlier this year (can't remember if it was .com or .co.uk). So as mentioned, don't jump for the first that becomes available unless you are completely loaded. And let's face it, after buying that list, you are going to be broke! The 3rd party expansion packs all work perfectly, so you could pick up one of those on the cheap to tide you over. Unlike 3rd party memory cards, which all go wrong. Get yourself an official card and perhaps a Dex drive to back things up on to pc.

lol I bought my US N64 from charlies too, I remember paying about ?300 for it at release time.

slighty off topic, but charlies have gone way way downhill now

you cant use a Pal composite or s-vid cable on an ntsc machine, there is a resistor in the ntsc cables.
Using an ntsc cable on a pl machine makes it a little dull but this isnt so obvious as having to luminice too high and the whole image blooming.

try the composite cable from an ntsc cube on a pal cube, same effect.
