Although, I believe the Wii has a DAC chip in the console, wonder if anyone has tried using that to create a GC component cable?
As previously mentioned GCVideo was a project to reverse engineer the GC DAC, this is what all the plugin digital/analog solutions utilise.

I meant the actual DAC chip in the Wii, I read that it is identical to the one in the GC component cables. Has anyone tried removing that out of a Wii and using it to create a GC component cable?

I had big issues getting a Camecube looking right on modern TVs, big issue was I needed a special HD cable which were worth a huge amount because they were the only ones to connect Camecube that way.

All solved by getting a WII instead, which has a panel that basically opens out into a camecube with all the ports for the controllers and memory cards! The discs all work too, you just have to get used to going through the WII menu at the start.

Rogue Squadron II and Gauntlet: Dark Legacy are worth the admission alone I think...

I tried a pico-boot mod over Crimbo i wouldn't attempt it without a usb microscope or some sort of decent system for magnification, the legs you have to solider to on the bios chip are tiny and its really easy to bridge the pins on the bios chip, this can completely brick the motherboard. If your confident and have a steady hand and a decent soldering iron its well worth a go though as you get a cube that will play games from any region, and you can back up your games to an SD too.

I've heard this is good option but my soldering skills are less than basic so not a good option for me.
I have a couple of of JP Cubes which the lasers are knackered so I'm waiting for the GC Loader to ever become available again or something similar that doesn't involve soldering!

There are so many youtubers saying this is a really easy starter mod to do, I think the cheap cost of it is whats pushing people to give it a try but you just have to look on Reddit to see that its beyond most peoples skills. if you do give it a go just be super patient as even removing the heat sync is tricky as its super easy to knock components off the board as its all super compact in there.

I killed an old GBA installing an AGS-101 screen in it and messing up the soldering, so don’t want to brick a GameCube as well. It was my first soldering job and think I needed a bit more practice with something simpler and less fiddly!

Well i got my GC up and running with pico boot. it meant i could finally boot up my old animal crossing village after all these years, (my Freeloader disk disappeared long ago), villagers asking me where i had been for 17 years and weeds everywhere

I got a 3rd party display cable from bitfunx on alliexpress with all sorts of features that trump the official one things like scan-lines, and a line doubler for a higher resolution display are really nice little additions.

Nice thing about Picoboot is that you can set the Cube to boot alternative dol files if you hold down X, Y, B on boot etc. I don't have a GB Player currently but you could quick boot into Game Boy Interface that way.
