Best Resident Evil for the Cube?

Really fancy a Resident Evil game (mouth is watering after seeing shots of RE4) but I'm not sure which to get.
I know it sounds lame but which is the easiest? I want to play right through for the atmosphere and story rather than a major challenge. And which is the best, looking and gameplay wise?

Personally I would start with RE0 and play through the series from the beginning

Go for REmake mate. It's much easier than RE 0 and less frustrating too.

I've just finished both of them games, had them since release just aint finished them due to other games! lol Anyways back to the subject, I was disappointed with Resi 0 didnt find it that exciting half way through the game and towards the end was just a drag, i got pretty much bored as

So i'd suggest resi remake, much more exciting - the graphics on that i think at times are better than Resi 0 too!

Have to agree with the consensus here, that the Resident Evil remake is the one to go for.Zero was a fine game but just didn't feel as good as exploring the mansion once again.

          And as for thr woods

I have all of the Resi games on the Cube and to be honest 2,3 and Code Veronica are not worth it.

Mind you Zero can be picked up brand new from Play for ?9.99 at the moment,so may be the best bet if you want a nice cheap fix.

Like what everyone else is saying, go for the REmake. If you wanna count other versions that were re-released, i'd personally say Code Veronica. It's probably also the easiest in the series and I find it to be amongst the best too.

Personally, I'd rate the series (Gamecube versions) in this order:

              Resident Evil
              RESIDENT EVIL 2
              Resident Evil 0
              RESIDENT EVIL ~CODE: Veronica~
              RESIDENT EVIL 3

As a GC game though, RE2 will probably disappoint you since it's more or less a direct port of a 7 year-old game with no improved graphics or anything.

Also, while I'm here, I think I'll mention that I dislike the way "BIOHAZARD" and "RESIDENT EVIL" have become "biohazard" and "Resident Evil" in recent years...

i didn't really like any of them tbh. the psone original is better than the remake mainly because of the pace, in the remake they added more areas which prolonged the game and made me realise how thin the story is.

Zero is better in terms of story, i didn't find it particularly hard. i found the remake harder.

Ditto Zero9X, RE: zero is piss easy compared to RE:Make.

What's so bad about Resiident Evil 3 compared to the others? I arrived late to the series and ended up playing REmake on the cube only last year. After picking up Zero and the others on the DC (2 and Veronica) it's the only one I haven't played. Veronica left me fairly cold and I enjoyed the two different storylines with the sequel.

My vote has gotta go for Code Veronica, man that owner of the mansion creeped me out with his high pitched voice and *ahem* taste in clothing i have only played the DC version though so the graphics might not be to your taste now, but for me this highlight of the series...just watch the opening sequence, amazing!

I got biohazard and is wondering should I replace it with resident evil as I can't hear the voices.

Not much tbh, it's still great and a must for Biohazard fans. In fact, now I think about it, I'd probably rate it above Veronica...
I think the fact that RE3 doesn't have the same kind of mysterious storyline as the others (you're just trying to escape from Raccoon City) is probably why it's usually regarded as the runt of the litter.

I was very dissapointed with both RE remake and RE0 very bog standard with nothing much special. I hate the fact that they went back to crappy pre rendered bacgrounds and a completely fixed camera after what they did with code veronica on the DC.

RE2, 3 and code veronica were much more fun to play through for their time. The 1 thing that might spoil them now though are the graphics since graphics play an important part in survival horror games.

Nah, I think the pre-rendered BGs have much more detail, atmosphere, more moody lighting etc. That was somewhat missing from Veronica with it's repetitive polygons and textures.
