You never said how much the upgrades cost for the RX-7.

I tried a Honda City Turbo II last night which cost me the princely sum of 4332 credits. The best I can manage at the moment is 10:02.608 which gives me a result of 139.106. Ouch!! The joys of a cheap fastish car... 735 Kg and just over 100 HP.

Current standings (where cost of car and upgrades has been stated):

    Bassman - Honda City Turbo II '83 - 139.106
    SonicMarmite - 1983 Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-Apex - 101.465
    Fuddle - Honda Integra Type R '95 - 69.544
    SonicMarmite - 1993 Mazda RX7 - 37.157
    John Beaulieu - Honda Civic Type R '97 - 28.669

Is taking the cost into consideration like that the way to go?

        Sorry about that.

        New standings are:

        Bassman - Honda City Turbo II '83 - 139.106
        SonicMarmite - 1983 Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-Apex - 101.465
        SonicMarmite - 1985 Mazda RX7 - 87.332
        Fuddle - Honda Integra Type R '95 - 69.544
        SonicMarmite - 1993 Mazda RX7 - 37.157
        John Beaulieu - Honda Civic Type R '97 - 28.669

I can supply the spreadsheet if anyone wants to check my logic (or lack of?)

          Surely the 1985 RX7 would be my highest scoring entry by a mile, because it cost roughly the same as the Trueno, but with a 30 seconds faster lap. O.o;;

If you need proof of Ring m4st3ry, the videos are now fully on MGV, including the 5.07 in the F1 car. ^_^

Sorry, the numbers made no sense with your new time Sonic Marmite. Here is the new version. The new number is Time in seconds*(Cost/Minimum Cost)

                  Bassman - Honda City Turbo II '83 - 602.608

think the above calculation is all a bit too much hard (but good hard work by the way Bassman) why not just have either fastest lap of Nurburgring (with F1 cars or fastest lap without F1 cars) keep it simple is the message basically, for those of you into your time trilling seroously drop me a PM and I list the "good" time trialling sites

                    David

PS Will find out what the GT4 Nurburgring record is, no offence but someone must have not given up until lthe magical 5 minutes was broken .....

personally i feel that bassman's chart is an ideal method of doing things .. as long as people are truthful about the cost of the vehicle and modifications ... it lets us see the price to time ratio perfectly.

anyone can take an expensive car, 'supe' it up and then get a low time - but not everyone can take a cheap ass car, take it with the bare minimum mods and then get a reasonable time which would top the leader board

as well as this thread for the 'ring I am planning on having track days at the various courses ... fastest lap time in a 24 hour period wins the day .. an idea i have is that the fastest time with the lowest BHP wins the day

great replays, the 'Ring time was quick but few errors and hardly a clean lap, why is the start/finish line about 4:35 into the replay ??? with GT4 replays can you turn the speed/time etc on ? (like you could in GT3)

Haven`t a clue what you`re on about, but I`d guess you mean the start-finish line style area on Dottinger-Hohe. Thats the place where the start and end of the track is, if you pay to have a go on the circuit in real life, so like suzuka, it has effectively 2 start-finish areas.

Yes you can turn the data on in GT4, but I haven`t sussed how to do it like you could on GT3 where you just had the specific things you wanted.

F1 Ring replay is blah quick and blah messy, but you have to try it to understand just how difficult it is to control - watch how it reacts to the bumps at the 1m36s and 1m59s points. On the bit at 1m59s, the car bounces off the ground in the braking area, meaning you have to slow down extra early, and then absolutely cannot get the power down as it scrabbles for grip over the bumps on the exit. Its as clean as I can get it for now. If I can get a better setup, its marginal, but I`m sure I can make it happen.

I like the trackday thing idea, but after mucho laps, would suggest that the ring gets fast road cars, and not racecars. One thing you could do is use the arcade quick setup thing, so that the winner or top 3 of each round gets an accumulative weight or power penalty for the next rounds. So like if I won the first race, I`d have to do the second race with an extra 50kg. And then if I still won the 2nd race, I`d have 100kg in the third etc. Bit like how they handicap touring cars.
