Halo 2 Tournament?

Does anyone fancy setting up/having a Halo 2 tournament?

Being perfectly honest, the main reason I ask is because I failed to qualify for a tournament over on rllmuk, and was quite looking forward to playing in a tournie!

Any up for this?

How are you thinknig of doing it, 2 vs 2 knock out or just on your own?

The rllmuk one was teams of 2 - reckon would be more fun in teams than doing it alone.

Not really thought much about how it would work, but guess we could do it like the World Cup - i.e. a series of group games (so we all get at least a few games!), followed by quarter, semi, and then a final.

I'd be happy to have a bash at organising it, but would be equally happy for someone else to sort it out if they've done it before!

So who would be interested then, if it was in teams of 2?

Might be more fun if it was just one on one though. Then we could have a definite Halo 2 Champion. Which, of course, wouldn't be me.

well we could always do an all vs all 16 man game after the whole thing... to see who the real champs and chumps are.

Over all I think 2 on a team is more fun.

teams should be sorted out based on level... 2 people of a high level together would be **** as everyone would get wiped out, but a high level plus a relatively low level would be interesting (assuming we have lower level players wanting in).

OK, will set up a new topic with all the details in it, but before I do that shall we agree on the format......

Was thinking of a group stage first of all, with 4 groups consisting of 4 teams each (a team consisting of 2 players). Each team within a group plays each other once, with 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for losing.

The winner and runner up of each group go through to quarter finals, semi, then final.

And I also like the idea of a big 16 player brawl at the end just for fun! :-)

In terms of choosing teams, think it would be too difficult to split people up based on their rankings, but rather leave it to individuals to choose fair-ish teams themselves - point of this will be for fun, rather than all out annihilation!!

What do you think? People happy with the above? (I'll choose levels, settings etc. and outline them in a new topic, along with entry requests)

I also agree with Crisp, although i think everyone we play with is around 8 -14 apart from opaque who is twenty odd.

We could make it like Humpday Challenge, Best of 3, 2 slayers and a and a Quick CTF

I'm up for it - teams of 2 sounds like a good idea and I second Crisp_Rappers comments re: Skill Levels - The highest level goes with the lowest level and so on.
