Bleeders 2 - 5 Gerry Helmet
One word - Shocking.
Absolute ****ing ****e defending from the Ukraine centre-backs who failed to deal with Dario Silva, who punished the Ukraines for lapses in concentration with a hat-trick.
The game opened with the match flitting from end-to-end before Silva opened the scoring, following the ball being fed into him, spinning off the centre-back and rifling it into the corner. Shortly after, the Ukraines pulled it back level, but the dead-lock only served to remain for a few moments when Uruguay went ahead with a good Recoba effort (I think). The game continued in it's end-to-end fashion, not before some scrappy defending from the South Americans at the other end saw the ball spill to a Ukraine player, who went on to level the score 2-2 at the interval.
Second-Half and the Ukraine's were dominating proceedings for the first 10/15 minutes of the half until against the run of play, Silva broke free and caught the Ukraines on the counter with a good effort far from the reach of the goal-keeper, it was shortly after that the score went to 4-2 when the Ukraine keeper made a hash of an easy shot and let it slip through - cue pad going halfway across the room - and GH making it 5-2 and completing Silva's hat-trick.
Good game fella, could've gone either way, but your clinical finishing was the difference! I felt some sort of revenge with my 4-0 mauling of your Celts though mate.Last edited by Bleeders; 15-11-2005, 21:44.

Mardigan8 2 - 2 Bleeders
After the Uruguay mauling, things certainly weren't looking good coming into this match - it was the equivalent of Man Utd and Chelsea, one coming on a rich vein of form, the other on the back of thumping result.
Ukraine set their stall out in the early going and edged out the play for half of the first-half until former Celtic hitman, Larsson pounced when a mix-up between two midfielders allowed him the room to shoot, which he did with aplomb sending the shot past the keeper giving him no chance what-so-ever.
Following the restart, Sweden slowly got a foot-hold in the match and started threatening the Ukraine back-line with some incissive passing and movement, which unfortuantely lacked the final ball into the box to create the chance. Shevchenko out on the right was pulling defenders towards him leaving gaps for the Ukraine front-line to run into, sadly, none of which amounted to anything due to the woeful shooting on display from the Ukraines.
At the break, Sweden were a deserved goal up and picked up from where they left off in the first-half. Shevchenko now up-front and in the middle, was now more of a threat to the Swedish back-line and went close on a number of occassions with long-range efforts well-handled by the keeper. It was against the run of play where Ljunberg was fed the ball down the left-flank, he motored his way down there, stuck in sublime cross which looked like the Ukraine centre-back was going to deal with before Ibrahimovic, who had been largely anonymous up until this point, powered his way through and put the Swedes 2-0 up with 28 minutes still left on the clock.
Seemingly no way back for the Ukraines, it was damage limitation, that was of course, until Shevchenko was brought down 30-yards from goal. Shevchenko struck a delightful free-kick into the top-corner of the Swedish 'net giving the Ukraines some glimmer of hope, something to grab onto, and sure enough in the 88th minute following a horrendous throw to the Ukraine winger, who spotted the on-coming striker, he provided a neat pass, which the striker rifled into the bottom corner and levelling the scores at 2-2.
The full-time whistle went shortly after the restart and both teams shared the spoils; a fitting result I felt.

Yeah good games tonight,
Silva was having barny in front of goal hitting everything in. It was Varlela with the other and chevanton on the other. It was close for a good while, I hit the crossbar 3 times aswell and Recoba had about 10 shots on goal !!
Mostly **** defending for all 7 goals, your 4-0 against Celtic showed a diffrent player, Celtic were pish all over, nothing is right with them, I doubt ill pick them again....
I guessed your pad went for a walk after the 4th, Still the chance for a hatrick

Result confirmed Sweden 2 - 2 Ukraine...
A combination of Shevchenko magic and lunacy at a throw in cost me my 100% record last night. First half was relatively even with both teams creating chances. Ukraine enjoyed the bulk of the possession but couldn't get the killer touch in front of goal. After a mix up in midfield Kallstrom was fed the ball to Ibrahimovic who then slotted a nice pass into Larsson who shot first time. Rising into the top corner the keeper could do nothing but get a slight touch on it, 1-0. Chances at both ends after that with Ukraine getting the best, a nice run and pass by Shevchenko gave the centre forward a chance to shoot but his turn and shot was blazed over when it should have been tucked away. Kallstrom then struck the bar with a free kick in the 38th minute and Ibrahimovic finished the rebound but was adjudeged to be offside, 1-0 at half time.
Second half started with some Ukraine pressure and the Swedish challenges were now coming in thick and fast. Following a quick counter attack Allback swung a nice cross into the box that looked like it was going to be cleared by the defender but Ibrahimovic made it his own with agreat run across the defender and header, 2-0. Was really one way traffica fter that with Ukraine enjoyinh lots of possession in the Swedish half. After a rash tackle from Mellberg, Shevchenko dusted himself down to strike a gorgeous free kick in off the bar (What a goal mate), 2-1. Sweden then slowed the pace of the game and tried to keep possession but it all went to **** in the final minute. A Swedish throw in was given straight to the Ukraine winger who slotted a pass across the box for the forward to drive home (cue pad getting battered off floor). Terrible end to the game and horrible mistake at throw in costing me another win, 2-2 final result.
On reflection 2-2 was probably a fair result so with one game to play qualification for Sweden should be confirmed.
Dont know how it was for you first half mate, but in the second half that was the worst it has ever ran for me. It was like stutterring every few seconds then going faster to catch up so it made tackling, etc a bit of a lotterygood game though and a draw the fair result I think.
Will be on from 6 tonight Widegoat. Am going out at about 7.30 so up for getting our game played then?
Ibrahimovic adds another goal to his tally making it 5 in 3 games. He will be rested for the final group game to ensure his attempt at the golden boot is not disqualified for having played more games
