But what a great way to go. Squadron Leader Paulos G returned for a last Hurrah and with a cry of 'Over the Top!' FaMmyDoDd, Team Juans and the big man himself threw themselves into a last melee at Kara Bakir.

Success was inevitable and all Hounds returned victorious.

An awful single player experience but in my eyes the most sociable and fun online multiplayer action to be had in any game.
To my fellow squad members - I salute you!

Not had this for years, but enjoyed my brief time online with you fellas way back when it launched. A real shame it's gone. I guess that's the blight of dedicated servers for console titles

My personal opinion is they should just post the server code online (guessing it's all PC based and effectively bypasses Live) and let those so inclined host their own servers. Didn't that happen with PSO? Or was that the PC version?

Doh, today was the last day!? My copy has just been gathering dust, would have loved to give it one last bash before the lights went out.

A kill on my last outing ... satisfying indeed, and quite unexpected. Ended up with 585 kills online and almost 1100 combas captures - modest stats indeed but so much fun. Also, we skanked The DodD.

I'd like to salute From for creating one of the best experiences of this gen.

I'd like to berate From and Sega for:
- under-supoorting the game and not ironing out the flaws that drove some people away.
- killing a still-used online game from this gen, which is utterly ****bag.
- not even having a sequel in the works to soften the blow.

Yeah, we didn't play it every day, but it was nice having the option of playing it again, which we've frequently done, often for days and weeks at a time. Now we all have a worthless coaster. DWADS.

That screenshots brings back some happy memories, it's was good playing with you guys in the last two weeks. Shame I couldn't be there on the last day.

So "War is Over" as they say can you do anything online or is it totally dead!

R.I.P. Chrome Hounds you were a great online game, having played some of the single player over the last two days I agree with Kat about it been with weak.

Here's hoping we get to fight the Neroimus War again one day.

If anyone hears about an unofficial server let me asap.

So I was there at the end.

Left my 360 on all night just in case they went down. Up at 8.30 and the servers were still up!!!

Was it possible that it was all a cunning rouse by Sega to once again get the servers busy or to see how many people would actually play in a time like this?

Anyway I had to pop out early and while I was away, between 9 and 10.45 it happened.

When I returned however, that was it. It wouldn't connect to any games and once you go back to the title screen, that's it. The Neroimus War is well and truly over.

All I can say is it was a pleasure and I wish I'd have got a 360 before.

Thank you Sega. Thank you for being a bunch of ignorant dickholes.

Dunno.

Order of Merit, Team NTSC-UK, Chromehounds:

1) Kats - ever-present, this man wracked up more hours in a cockpit than Biggles.
2) vanpeebles - probably the best actual pound-for-pound player of the game in the squad, huge killcount (although some of questionable provenance) and designer of great HOUNDs.
3) Paulos G - Squad Leader since 1997, when he last washed his hair to celebrate the great honour bestowed upon him. A man of many kills, and few killskanks.
4) Plough Boy - Owner of many man hours, but perhaps less than distinguished in battle, on occasion. Still, you can't argue with the numbers.
5) The bit-part players - strawdonkey, redoilcan, talizker, spags, orgun, kerem, James, matsj, techyskankus, and a whole host of other guys who experienced the joys of Team NTSC-UK and distinguished themselves in battle.
6) Bletcher - owner of the record for the four zeros, designer of many flawed HOUNDs, including the powerful-yet-slow Bletchmaster MKIII which was often seen lumbering into battle as the last shot was being fired. Very rarely, a top drawer performance was delivered, but deliberately not captured on film by Kats as proof.


(UNRANKED) FaMMyDoDD - the archetypal latecomer, gatecrashing the party and skanking everybody. Exhibited SCANDALOUS behaviour and endless de-merits by coercing another team member to go and set up a rival clan - clan FammYdoDD or whatever - then came waddling back with his (small) tail between his legs when he realised he needed Team NTSC-UK. His lack of class and tact went right down to zero hour when he revealed he was trying to whore and engineer games to the extent that he would beat the gamerscore total on the game of our exalted Number 1, Kats.

I am covertly entering Sega HQ and switching it back on, then terminating everyone involved with the switch off.
F4mMyD0dD will be the 1st for the chop as he was online when the server got dodd'ed, the moral of this story is if you like a game make sure fAmMyDoDd does not play it or its going to get borked.

Would have been on for the final but got marooned in the next town after going to the job centre, only just returned

Oddly enough I know an ex-Sega Europe employee who worked on the game, wasn't a keen fan of the game.

I Tip my "Team Grawsome" hat to you gents. A finner bunch of online monkeys is impossible to find, and whilst my outing with the hounds was shortlived, the way Paulos and VP used $$ and time to build my Capcom Hound Mark #1, with Kat selflessly waiting in the lobby was a memory I won't forget get.

The hounds are dead. Long live the hounds.
