Along with a few cock-ups worldwide, to boot - got to love a rollback within an hour of the game being opened

The expansion is incredible, though - far too many items to collect, and a metric ton of things to do. Finished blitzing Acrofighter's stats, and now I'm moved onto the whip-tastic Acrotecher. Both are bugged to high heaven, so you can level both classes up to 10 with minimal effort.

Acrotecher is brilliant, too - it's a perfect 'First Response' techer class, you can weave in between enemies and buff people on the fly, potentially annoying Fortetechers :P not only that, but tagging enemies with the whip is godly in terms of range, and you'll chip away at HP rather well with Just Attack as well. Then there's the use of Twin Handguns, Twin Daggers, the Ultimate dagger PA where the second part hits four times in about a second.. you get the picture.

Even more hilarious is that the 'True' Varista drop over at Sakura Blast (yes, the very same Varista as the TOTALLY UBER-RARE VARISTA on PSO) pretty much takes a dump on my grinded Python from a great height, and it's not even grinded itself!

Does anyone know if the Xbox 360 messenger kit keyboard works with this on PSU?

Thinking about going back to this. I wasn't a fan of PSU but a massive fan of PSO. Is the new expansion a step in the right direction?

It's a huge leap in the right direction, more varied weapons, better missions, higher synth successes, more diversity in customisation, so much better.

Messenger kit as far as I'm aware does not work on any of the 360 MMO's, but it definately does not work on PSU.

Go Boomas drop it, as a Rare Weapon. They also drop Beatguns, while normal Boomas drop Pallashes/Durandal Replicas. I've got a couple from runs if you're interested, can drop one off into your room if you have one of the new rooms, or if you're really dying to give me something you can hand some shoddy striking weapons over to feed my PM

Mariomark: Currently, the Messenger Kit doesn't work to my knowledge.

The expansion, at the current time, shifts PSU to the point where it's probably better than PSO. Just Attack brings back that much needed timing to melee, grinding doesn't destroy your weapons, new locales that finally get me into the PSO mood, and all the drops are improved so that you don't get bored by the tedium of it all (example: never came across an S-rank board in my life before the expansion. since the expansion, I've seen a ton of awesome stuff, and today a Huge Cutter dropped today in Lightning Beasts. yes, the proper weapon, 14% fire).

Either way, the expansion is full of god and win, and it makes Vanilla PSU look like the mockery that it was.

EDIT: as Elaniel says on the previous page, Synth rates are increased as well, especially on one-shot S-Rank weapons where on a decent PM the rate is now on the 90% success side of things, instead of being almost impossible.

Speaking of which, you can get Ohsobra Boards (the 7* Yohmei Double Saber) from Sakura Blast C as well. got one cooking right now, hope it works at 65%!

I'm gonna say no. If you didn't like PSO this "expansion" and I use the term lightly, isn't gonna change your mind. Unless you're a real fan of PSU it's a waste of money. At the very least wait until you hear that they've released the old PSO levels and costumes if it's nostalgia you're after, otherwise avoid it.

I was going to say, it's NOT better than PSO. Sorry, it's really not.

It's a good game, and as risk says, the "expansion" is just updated content we have purchased ready to be unlocked by ST.

It is vast imporovement, as some reasons I got tired of the game was never picking anything decent up, failing if I ever did, and grinding my ways through.

At least now there's things to do and classes to level and new missions to run, and characters to customise.

If they keep updating frequently, they can definately keep people interested, but with only a 1.92GB download full of content, how long can it last, and will it be as dragged out as regular PSU?

I'm sure Risk will be very shocked to hear me slating the game for the first time ever :P

Wow - must really be a love / hate thing because this is a massive massive step up from PSO in my opinion and I have played the original a LOT!

Went back to have a go on it recently and it just felt dire. In answer to Mario Mark though I'm not sure this expansion will make you come back if you're looking for PSO because this still 'feels' very much PSU to me although you have got the timed attacks and upgraded drop rates to make it feel a little more similar.

This expansion is the best release this year IMO - its the first time this year I have really had trouble pulling myself away from the 360. I didnt touch Mass effect once yesterday due to this and considering I've been waiting for it with baited breath since Jade Empire thats saying something!
