Good luck learning Viper. I've heard she's one on the hardest characters to get to grips with, so I stay away from her.

Yeah 3 rounds, 99 seconds sounds fine. It should be straightforward, just need an easy way of "drawing names from a hat" for the first heat. I think if you start a new thread you should get everyone to state the character they're gonna use before arranging the matches. That'll stop all the second guessing on the character select screen.

Ha ha! Rather than go all out with the Holy Shoto Trinity of Ken, Ryu & Akuma (and also partly due to the fact that getting re-acquainted with joystick play is proving to be a bit of a struggle - EX2 owner), I decided to mix things up a bit with SFIV and look to try other characters. One of my mates is a hardcore SF player and raved about Blanka, so I gave him a try and have been stuck on him for player match battles ever since (not entered ranked battles yet). I think that I'm OK with Blanka - not too proficient with advanced combinations (yet) but using "stick 'n' move" tactics which seem to be working well, and his EX Cannonball moves are brilliant for crossovers, anti-airs and priority over projectiles. Blanka has just got a nice blend of speed, attack and defence, imo. I don't think his Ultra Combo is the best though, as other Ultras like Ken's and Guile's have punched me out of it on more than one occasion. That said, I haven't yet properly mastered the use of it to hit someone in the air and then timing it just right to follow up and catch them on the ground with it. Great for finishing someone off with chipping damage if they block with little energy left, though (cheap, I know! )

I’m still finding my feet against Blankas. Like most matchups with Chun Li, I’m at a real disadvantage at range but it’s more difficult to close the gap than it is with fireball spammers and the like.

One weakness I find with a lot of Blanka players is their overwhelming desire to almost always start the round with a Horizontal Roll so Kikoken pre-charged always picks them off.

Once I’ve closed the gap and cornered them they do seem to struggle a little if I pile on the pressure. Hazanshu overhead is good to pick them off as they crouch guard trying to decide what to do next.
