LOL - you have just described me as soon as I hit Zone 27. The yellow comes and I realise I haven't been paying attention (ironically, I do BETTER when I am not paying attention!). I then start to concentrate too hard and end up bouncing off walls. By the time 35 comes (just got to it again) the dingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingdingding becomes too much and I end up committing in game suicide.

Totally. It's the yellow Zone 27 for me too. Super Phantom or something. When I hear those words and the screen fills with yellow, I wake up from my coma and start thinking about it too. It's hilarious how much of a mind game it is.

Can you turn off in-game sound effects like that? Maybe it'll be easier when you don't know you're about to die

Just got 35 AGAIN! Whilst the yellow for Super Phantom is bad enough, I have just realised it is the white for Zen that litterally wipes me out.

I actually played without sound last night when I first reached 35 so there might be something to that...

Haha yeh, you can turn the effects off and keep the music on but half my problem actually is that I look at my health, score and zone level CONSTANTLY. I wish you could turn the HUD off completely. I might have to stick some post it notes over the screen where the hud is to force me not to look!

Try the 2097 HUD as it is much less intrusive.

Managed to join the 37 club with a combination of the 2097 HUD and "The Time is Now" playing throug headphones (no idea why that worked but it just did ok?).
