So I?m going to go full time BST which 1st means levelling a blm to 15 then Whm to 30 to start with, which should be a hoot! I still need to finish Mea of which I?ll try for tonight.
Awwww, I know exactly how you feel.

It happened to me as well. When I started playing FF, right from the start my goal was to be a samurai. Everything went swimmingly well up until about lv50. The grind to lv60 was painfully beyond belief. Waiting in Jeuno for hours on end is soul destroying to say the least. So I did what most other samurai did, I changed jobs...to thief, another job that will lead you to sitting around in jeuno for hours on end with no invite once you hit late 50's, but I think the funnest / most interesting to play of all melee classes.
Then I changed to ranger, and shot to lv74 faster that I ever expected. I just FLEW there.

I made the same mistake as that nobba halfpint and moved to remora. Got hugely bored with it all and decided to quit the game. I had great fun dropping my 3 full sets of AF armour ( another kick in the teeth for samurai, not only is it probably the hardest of all AF sets to get, but its also mostly useless ) in the middle of jeuno. Then giving away all my gear and gil to passing strangers.

Since moving to WOW I always compare it to FF as I'm playing, and WOW never seems to come out on top, apart from the fact that you don't have to sit around for hours on end doing sod all. That's the only problem I had with FF.

I was lorenzo in game by the way. I had a rargh LS, but was already well in with another LS beforehand, so didn't really get to play with most of you.
Wish you all the best of luck in Vana'diel!

You have seen the return to FFXI deals that SE are doing to restore characters that have been deleted haven't you. Go on you know it makes sense come home to FFXI...

...There's even more to do now, don't know when you quit but the new areas are amazing and the game is still as good as ever. I'm working on something to do wating for invites and I think when I've finally finished skilling up everything then it's onto farming and fishing. There are supposed to be 2 great carp ponds in Rolanberry Fields so my Lu Shang is next ^^

Trouble is we would end up back on the server we left...remora. Which was a massive load of poo. Also I would be naked without money or items.

Sometimes I think about making a return to serpaph, but then I remember genkai quests + trying to get keys and items for AF armour & I quickly snap out of it.

Also the HLNM LS's were a pile of arse. To many rules not enough fun.

drjugears, what was your character name on remora? I might remember you.

But yeah, Remora was crap. Really really really crap. There was 1 good HNM LS which had moved across from Asura, and you were either in it or you were in ****. JP's dominated everything and they were the only ones with haijin ><.

Plus, I gave my account information to somebody else, who promptly took the account for himself. Bastard.

          Edit: Saw post above, Lourenzo

Problem we have with Rargh at the moment is getting out new pearls. Had a good 2 or 3 who would have been interested and instead they're migrating over to other LS's and unfortunately as Rargh gets less busy others are going with them.
I am happy to come online and give specific people pearl sacks so that more pearls can be made, just let me know when and who.

More server crashes last night - while I was doing a spot of levelling to get a buffer for my next AF1 attempt, in crawler's nest. This time I was one of the unlucky ones who got left behind - 4 members of our party got disconnected and two were left to die :-( I've only ever experienced these crashes when I'm in xp parties, it's really weird.

Anyway, Windurst have reclaimed Tavnazia as of this evening so I was going to go on the supplies quest, but it's still not available. I can only assume that region is exempt? (Movalpolos also wasn't listed in the available regions last time).

Was reading the game guide to see what it said about supply quests, and ended up reading the bit on garrison instead. It seems I have one of the items for a level 30 cap garrison mission. I'm keen to trade it at the outpost to see what happens, but I would think, again, that a party will be required. I'll probably have a crack at this when my friend Claude hits level 30 - he's currently 25 with only the palborough chest key still to get for kazham access. Tal, hic, tsing - do you guys still have your level 30 gear? There was nothing in the guide to suggest that everybody needs the item in order to take part (the section on expeditionary force was very clear about that sort of thing).. but if anyone wants to know it was a mithra fang sack which dropped off a goblin smithy/pathfinder in the maze of shakrahmi. Probably be a couple of weeks until Claude is ready, but I'm just throwing the idea out there.

I also had a darksteel engraving and a seven knot quipus but I binned them recently thinking I'd never know what they were for :-( they were for level 20 fights anyway and I don't have any lvl 20 gear anymore.

Yeah I still have my level 30 gear, if we're thinking of doing a run we should farm some items up so we have enough for at least 4 or 5. The runs do indeed need a party, actually 2 parties ideally 3. Last one I tried was a Garisson 30 in pashow, with 12 people we eneded up being wiped out, I was the only person not to go down.

To be honest the failure was more to do with the quality of the players I think than anything. I was out kiting and the melees failed misserably in their job of keeping hate away from the mages.

One other thing to mention we started with a full alliance of 18 but most left. The guy who set it up forgot one rather important factor:

The outpost you trade the item to has to be under your nations control!

After an hour of putting a the alliance together getting geared and heading in qufim the idiot couldn't trade it to the outpost. Boy did we al look stupid having cleared the area of XP parties to get the thing going.

I only have 1 garrison item and thats a red cryptex for West Ronf, I'd however have level 20 gear for BLM and WHM.

The final alternative is to get in touch with the GArisson Central LS, these guys specialise in setting up Garissons. I've never spoken to them but they are supposed to be pretty handy.

My BLM is still at 30 and I have a full set of gear so count me in (even though I have no idea whats involved!!!).

Wedge, did you get any more interest for (hopefully!) tonights BCNM40?

                  Comment

Tonight BCNM as far as I know we have

                    Wedge - BRD
                    Tal - RDM
                    Tsing - PLD
                    Darwock - BLM

Looking at that we need a couple of DDs from somewhere if you main heal Tal. I've never done this lark before so no idea what we would need in reality. There's always Tobal, Princesblade and Jstrtrx if we need a couple of DDs. Would be nice to have a DRK for Stun I think but I only know one and I doubt he's use seals on a BCNM 40.

Damn, full alliance? Knowing how painful it is trying to organise an eco-warrior attempt, I don't relish the prospect of doing that for garrison...

Why would 4 or 5 items be needed Tsing? I assume from what you say that only one person can trigger it - is it just to take advantage of the fact that we would have the required party numbers already?

The game manual didn't actually say anything about the regional influence being important - pretty significant omission that ><

I'll be keeping a close eye on Buburimu for the next time windy are in control.

The only reason I suggest getting a bunch of items together is that it's a lot of hassle to gather 18 people for 1 ten minute fight. To be honest I think 12 may be enough and I know folks on ArchAngelz that would come and play if we were to do one.

I'm looking for the Garisson Guide on Alla at the moment, it's pretty sharp and explains everything in terms of set up and what items are for where....

                        Comment

That's what surprised me about the manual - it gives the items, locations and level caps. I thought squeenix kept a lot of that info to themselves (you'd think it would make more sense to put it in the item description like they do with the orbs, but hey..)

                          Comment

I am still up for BCNM40 tonight but really think whoever the remaining two players are need to have experience on this BCNM, when done right its easy but I think having an expert at it to give instructions would greatly improve success rate.

Also I was inspired by Nyoneme when he told me about his ffxi journal, so you can now find mine at:

if you click on my friends link you will see Nyoneme's as well, go to his friend list and there are quite a few more from others on seraph.

I hope the use of Stonega II won't be required, I still can't afford to buy that particular scroll :-(

I'm good with that do you know anyone who would fit the bill and what other jobs we'd need? I could tap up ArchAnglez may be someone willing on there and they're pretty handy as a whole, most of them are rank 7 or above and 70+.

Lets ee who we can get, I'm still up for it regardless, if we learn how to do it together then we can do it any time. I know that might not be ideal and take a couple of runs to smooth it out, at least then we'll be set for good.

GA spells as far as i know are out as the BRD has to keep the other mandy's slept.
