Originally posted by C'This is how gilsellers can impact the server negatively. The fact that they are not creating new money is irrelevant as they can do damage in other ways. They artificially move money around the economy. Maybe it?s just me but I have a strong attachment to the gil I make as I work hard for it and want to get the most out of it that I can. Does someone who simply had that gil magically appear in their delivery box one morning have those same values?
Its the high level crafters (like Maev) who are profiting from this without buying gil and are in a position to bring the gil back to the non gilbuying community. If the gilbuyers want "uber-l33t" items to show off to their mates, they have to get them from somewhere, and they have more money than sense (and/or time). So they're prepared to pay a premium for the big show off goods they use and wear. If you're the person making those goods, you can charge that premium. In short, a fool and his money are easily parted. How that feeds back into the rest of the non-gilbuying economy is difficult to say but the parallels to the real life economy are certainly mildly disturbing!

Reason i choose this was because it allows the LS to obtain some pretty rare equip, motivates people to progress further in CoP and also allows people already up to this part of CoP to get something back
The Droprates of the Bandana are almost 100%, where as the Drop rates on Sallet and Ring are about 10-20% each i would guess.Last edited by Bayan; 21-12-2005, 16:08.

My issue with the RMT process is that it has formed a micro economy within the sever which holds the gil in the gil buying and selling arena. Take player A lets call GBuyer and player B lets call him GSeller. Now MR GBuyer wants to buy a high ticket item say I don't know the emperor pin prepatch to move it. Now this item is listed at 2 million so Mr GBuyer goes to IGE and buys 2 million gil, and buys his pin. Lucky for Mr GSeller he listed the pin and receives his gil back to resell to Mr GBuyer when he next needs something no the AH.
It's kind of self perpetuating and each time a player buys from items listed by sellers more gil enters this economy and the more control they have. What you end up with is a restricted amount of gil in the real economy making it even harder to afford these items and driving more buying.
It suck, I think buyers should be hung by their toes and beaten with big sticks, they are the only problem we have in all this.

Nice post Rare. Very analytical, and it also made the activities of gilsellers more clear to me, and why they can be such a negative aspect on the servers.

Cheers to all involved on the ifrit's cauldron trip - wish I knew what happened! The moment the fight started I went to cast a spell and everything froze. Control came back at one point with my health down in the red.. at that point I figured I'd better get my ass next to the headstone ASAP, then it froze again.. I was convinced I was either going to die or disconnect and fail to get the fragment. Tense moment!

Yeah - good work for sure! Bit annoyed about dieing for the second mission running but at least it was from helping someone out, not a mistake on my part (and at least this one worked - after the reraise!)... Still I guess that is the reason I made sure I had a buffer on Lv61 ^^
Roll on ZM6!

Another success for the moight Rargh last night as the last of the ZM5 mobs fell before us. As always thanks to the team as we once again put together a pretty good performance all round.
The night started with a call to arms from Bayan to go drop Lumber Jack out in Batalia downs as we were forming up for the ZM5 run. We got ourselves out there and helped with the kill but alas no drop.
Then started the organisation of the run, typically having advised everyone to get an item for a quest after the NMs I couldn't find one leaving me needing to return to the Headstone again in the future. After our my best effort and even a final chack of AHs from Hic I had to give up and head out there. Theanu warped the first party, which was sadly without Kerushi. Then miracle of miracles just as we were getting ready for the second party to join us Kerushi logged in so everyone who meeded it made it.
The journey went smootly until right at the end we ran into the ash dragon which accounted for Mosley. Talizker then suffered a similar fate trying to raise but after some sterling work everyone reached the jungle. The fight itself was pretty straight forward but D suffered some nasaty lag (jusst in case you were wobdering what happened you picked up a couple f gobs from behing you).
After the victory a very satisfied team sit ready for ZM6 at the next chance. Once again Rargh > Game!
Quick list of the folks there, those that needed
Darwock
Talizker
Tsingtao
Kerushi
Those that came to help
Mosley
Wedgemoon (though he got my sense of direction for the evening and had to leave)
Rabs
and cheers to Theanu for al the ports!

I died a fair few times during Zm5, didn?t record death during the 4,6,8. Being rather selfish this week as I?m in farming mode, 900k ish away from the current 4m price which is bound to rise again by the timei get the gill, but I?ll wait for it to come down, the Hagun will be mine. on a further note I made me chuckle to see Lewis name twice in the history brought for 4.6m and sold for 4m, a few days later hahahhahahaaa.
I think I might finish of levelling my whm to 20 on sat/sun as farming?s gonna be a total pain with so many people off for the holidays, I?ll then use it for garrisons and Exp.Force. Also have Merit point to use I was saving for lowering mediate to 2.42 but being I don?t really need to right now, I?m spending it on 10MP boost.
Anyone got lvl15 job there feel like levelling.

Who's Lewis, I've seen his name mentioned a few times recently - I thought he was an LS member?
For the next Zilart battles, is sleeping going to be an important tactic? If it is, I'm gonna have to put out a special request for help using my 55 seals so I can get the cash to buy Sleepga II. I was just under halfway there until last night (having sold some ninjutsu scrolls recently), but buying those oils and powders has set me back a fair distance.

Our setup was NIN/WAR and 2 x RDM/NIN. I am up for 2-3 of these in the coming weeks.
